Need suggestions for a good mower
Comments (0)I need suggestions for a good mower. The deal is that I have some issues with the layout of my property that make a regular mower difficult to use. It has rounded drop-offs to the street that approach 30-40 degrees in slope that are only 4-8 feet wide. I got one of those regular Husqvarna rear wheel drive walk-behind mowers, but it likes sliding sideways down the slope and is pretty difficult to control. Some of the areas are wetter and the grass grows more thickly causing the mower to stall. So what would be a good mower that can stay where you put it on a slope, climb or traverse said slope without sliding, and have enough power to not stall out on thicker grass? As a bonus, it'd be even better if it had a reverse so that's don't have to drag the thing backwards up the slope. If you can, be specific to the make/model/number so I can look it up and compare models. This is all new to me, I grew up using powered reel-type mowers on a flat lawn and then small lawn-tractor type mowers on the same. This sloping stuff requires something different. Thanks for any suggestions!!...See MoreTroyBilt 'Horse' Riding Mower with Power Loss
Comments (6)Thanks for your replies. Called my local dealer and they think it's the carb (of course, they always do...long story) and think it may have to be cleaned. His exact words were "sucked something into the carb." No idea what that means. Called about warranty and it's 50/50 whether they cover carb issues. They cover broken parts, but not cleanings/wear & tear. Going to try and replace the air-filter but I'm doubtful that's going to do anything. Thanks again....See MoreNeed advice for new battery powered sprayer...
Comments (6)I have 2 from Rosemania that I have not had any trouble with - so far. One is the small Duromax (Flo Pro) 1.3 gallon sprayer... http://rosemania.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product490.html sells for $89.95. I like it because it has a shoulder strap and I can zip around and quickly spray all of my roses in about 30 minutes. The other one is the Spotshot 7 gallon sprayer that you already mentioned earlier.... http://rosemania.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product93.html I have not had any problems with it either. But it IS rather pricey - $400. It is harder for me to maneuver around the garden when it is full - even though it has wheels. I mainly use it to apply the Bayer All-in-One soil drench. It makes applying that so much easier. I use it without the spray nozzle. Comments (1)I'll never own a gas mower again. Electric technology is superior but unfortunately just as there are bad gas mower manufacturers there are bad electric mower manufacturers. Avoid EGO and Echo. EGO has a great battery system and all of their tools except their mower are quite good but their mower lacks suction/vacuum so it leaves a lot of blades of grass uncut, doesn't suck up leaves, is quite aweful for mulching, etc. Echo has a quite awful battery mgmt system which is really stupid in this day and age with decades of good battery mgmt systems in existence (I've still got original Panasonic and Milwaukee hand tool batteries in use). Echo batteries degrade quickly and we had some that stopped taking a charge. At first Echo were good about replacements but then got jerky about it. I'm planning to sell all my EGO stuff in the spring and likely get a Toro....See More300ft_anin
