Are angled cabinets in corner "out"? what do do with corner...
Comments (12)See attached pics of my corner drawers. I like the idea and the functionality, but the cabinet itself is a little wonky. (The drawers aren't aligned well and they don't have adjustment options, there's a gap between the two faces on each drawer.) My GC and I spent the last two days adjusting cabinets and installing handle hardware and he fought with those drawers a lot and they're still not completely aligned. (I have the Belmont 1900 series, so they weren't cheap, either.) (Although you can definitely tell in the close up, now that we've spent some time on them, they probably look fine from farther away. Both my GC and I are sort of perfectionists, which means both that we work well together and that there's no one to step in as the voice of reason when something is actually fine. Heh.) They work great though and I probably would get them again vs. other options, but I'd take a closer look at quality. (One thing that no one really mentioned to me about buying material is that a component that's less expensive to purchase might end up being more expensive overall if it is significantly harder to install.) I also like this idea, although I didn't have enough space for it: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/157837161913145771/ BTW, one idea I had seen when I was first planning my kitchen was to leave the corner as dead space in the kitchen and install a drawer or shelving niche in the space on the other side of the wall (in the room next to the kitchen). Obviously whether or not that would work would depend on the house layout....See Morewhat do I do with this awkward space?! PLEASE help!
Comments (20)I can’t tell you how much this feedback is helping! I’ll have to wait to give those exact dimensions as we are not in the house just yet. We close May 11th and have to be out of our current home June 4th. We are trying to complete this entire renovation in that short amount of time! Rip out walls, take out all the carpet upstairs, put hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining room, living room, stairwell, and hallway, paint, build island and pantry. We are kinda crazy. We also have a 2 year old and 8 month old. This will hopefully be something we laugh about someday! We just feel so fortunate to have some overlap with our houses to be able to renovate while living in our current home. No furniture...just a clean slate!...See Moreawkward corner media space - what to do here?
Comments (46)I think a built-in or a console is fine. I think a console would likely be less expensive. Really, a built-in is going to be just the shape of a console. That is all you can fit. As far as option 2, Yes, you would have an issue with the sofa the way I am showing or with flipping the sofa with the chairs. Design is not always perfection and involves compromises. I suggest you might have to spend $ on something going forward -Is that a bathroom? If so, the door must swing out. If not, can you change the swing? -How a bout a new sofa that is more compact.? The width of the room is a matter of math. You have 155". 155-89=66. With the current sofa, that gives you a total of 66" for door swing for both doors. What is the total of door swing for both doors total?...See MoreAwkward Fireplace & Garage Entry Door
Comments (17)I think to start with I'd place TV on the left and paint the door and frame to match the wall color. You may have bigger fish to fry once you move in (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) All kinds of issues can arise once you're in the home to eat into any leftover cash you have. Once you live with it for a while, you may find it isn't the issue you thought it would be. There may be more urgent items that need your attention and cash. Dream, plan, make ideabooks here, and take your time....See Morestagevictoriabc
