Which is the best rose glove???
Comments (29)When I prune my roses in spring I use the heaviest leather type. They are they only ones none of my roses have never managed to cut trough, pretty close to 100%. I often use no gloves at all, but when I need to lift a bunch of thorny off cuts, or handle canes a bit more than lightly I put on these. I actually think they are welding gloves, and they reach half way up to my elbow, nothing like the ones I see for gardeners. I have several types of gloves, but all I really use are these heavy ones, a pair of lighter leather gloves, and no gloves at all. I mostly use bare hands when I plant, and dig holes. I have started using glycerin hand cream when my hands get too dry and sore. I am a man, so I don't feel too guilty when gardening or work shows on my hands. I have to admit that it takes a day or two before all traces of gardening are gone when I don't use gloves, which I agree, really isn't that good. Even though I use soap and water several times, it's stuck there for a while....See MorePoll: Garden Gloves- use them?
Comments (23)I also wear gloves for most garden chores. I use heavier leather ones when I'll be moving bricks or stone or doing repetitive shovel work to avoid blisters, cuts, etc. I have some of the fabric/rubber dipped ones for planting, weeding, and such. I don't wear them because I'm particularly concerned about the appearance of my hands or on account of any skin sensitivity. Rather, I somehow can reach right in with less hesitation than I would without gloves. Who wants to reach for a stem to deadhead and grab a bug barehanded? Or push down into the dirt and poke a hole in a lurking grub? (I'd NEVER get my nails clean after that!) Not to mention the possibility of surprising a snake in the ground cover or shrubbery or finding more of the roofing nails the workmen apparently tossed like confetti in celebration for finishing up the new roof. You get the picture... When I don't have to think about such "hazards" I can concentrate on the gardening job I'm doing with much more confidence and comfort. For those who worry about spiders - that crossed my mind, too. So I keep my gloves clipped by the wrist with a wide spring clip meant for holding a potato chip bag closed. It has a handy hole in the handle that fits on a nail in the garage. The gloves can air dry that way. (They always seem to get damp or wet by the time I finish working.) If one of the fingers has a hole I just bend it up and catch it in the clip, too....See MoreI need a safe junk e-mail address.
Comments (15)I don't know anyone who supplies there real info to web based email accounts. Why would anyone do that?? What ever info you enter should be written down and saved somewhere though. If you should ever forget your password or your account gets hijacked they will ask you for you "information". After all they can't just send out passwords for accounts to just anybody who asks for it claiming to be the owner of said account. I learned this the hard way with my Yahoo account. They needed to know my birthday in order to retrieve my password for me and how the heck would I remember what I had put down when I signed up? Good-bye Yahoo email account. Some email services ask for your referrer email account too so take note of that also....See MoreDaniel's Gloves...Long
Comments (8)Beautiful story. Not all of us are cooks, but those of us who are do appreciate and enjoy the recipe threads. Those to whom they do not appeal can pass on by. The same is true of threads like this one....See More- 8 years ago
