totally awesome gardening gloves! Bear Wallow

This is a huge thanks to Kentstar once mentioning that she used Bear Wallow gloves! I googled the name and ordered them right away! Thanks to Kentstar, I have finally found an absolutely outstanding made-in-USA pair of gloves!

Bear Wallow Gloves

The gloves are so beautifully crafted and you can visually see and feel the difference these gloves have! Every seam, every stitch was perfection. The goatskin truly protects against the rose thorns and the entire gloves also saved my hands from the bruising and callousing from doing some really intense labor (shoveling over 240 lbs. of dirt per day) with several days' worth of this type of labor. The gloves are a lifesaver. Here is a photo of my gloves after my dirt shoveling episodes, lol!

The photo which shows the beauty of the gloves when you first receive it in the mail. This photo is EXACTLY AS BEAUTIFUL as this link shows. I was so impressed when I got my package!

But for those with larger bones structures or who are between sizes you definitely have to order a size up. The gloves sized ranking are for thinner smaller-boned fingers I feel. Being very petite, the gloves were exactly the perfect fit, but I can see how many might need to order a size up...

I think it shows what a great person you must be and with such caring and devoted friends , you are so Blessed. My neighbors house and one and a half acres are for sale and I sure pray I get someone half as nice as you. I would love to look at stuff like that all day instead of 15 redneck vehicles,a never used trampoline,their chickencoop with plywood leaning against it(which happens to be 10 ft from the pool they never clean)and a flat lawn of weeds.Hope you have a really large yard cuz at the rate you are going you will have so many bears you won't have space to garden!

I keep a working pair and an old pair, but no..........I dn't wear gloves unless there are extenuating circumstances. Pruning roses is one of them, likewise berry bushes. I do wear them if I know I am coming in contact with poison ivy. And since I garden for a living, I wear them when I am working anything with a handle(spade, shovel, loppers, pruners) for half a day or longer. The palms of my hands are so calloused gloves are redundant. Yep. Just had a tetanus booster. Yes, I do wash my hands before anything goes to my mouth or eyes. I live in Ohio too, but I am an ex nurse. I also don't think you can get scabies from soil, and in this area a lot of the parasites like hook worms are not a problem like in a warmer zone....but we have plenty of racoons, fox, coyote, possum, skunk, chipmunks and other fur-bearing rodents and animals, and don't ever assume they don't carry some esoteric parasites in their feces you can gather under your nails and consume if you aren't careful.

Yikes, everyone! I have goofed up! Instead of saying this: "The gloves sized ranking are for thinner smaller-boned fingers I feel. Being very petite, the gloves were exactly the perfect fit, but I can see how many might need to order a size up... " I should have written simply, "order a size up from your normal size." I am beginning to realize that few people are going to be able to wear the original size ranking but will have to increase their size requirement instead. At the time I wrote I should have admitted that I was 5'2-1/2" and 97 lbs. and that way people could assess what I meant by smaller-boned. Ugggh! My doofus error, sigh...

Hi, Greenhaven! I wrote on my original thread, "the gloves sized ranking are for thinner smaller-boned fingers I feel. Being very petite, the gloves were exactly the perfect fit, but I can see how many might need to order a size up.." Maybe, Greenhaven, I should have described more clearly what petite meant. Admitting that I'm 5'2-1/2" 97 lbs. might have given people a more direct warning/idea about aize restrictions. So sorry! But the good thing Greenhaven, is that there may be some loosening. I rechecked my gloves and there is definitely "give" to it. I think mine have actually loosened by 1/2 a size, but my big concern is that it won't loosen to the full extent that many people may require. The best thing is to first flex your hand, and if there is no constriction, then you are safe. There is a difference between snug and constricted. If you are borderline, call and ask Bear Wallow for help and advice. They seem to be such a wonderful company and I'm sure they'll let you know which is the best way to go! I will go back to my thread and say order a size up! instead.

hehe, Greenhaven and Eric, they are so worth the price. I'd have so much bruising, strain, and blisters if I didn't have these gloves. For example I have six 4'x2'x 2'1/2" pots. Being 5'2-1/2" and 97 lbs. I have to grab 40 lb. bags of soil. Because they are too heavy to throw into the pot, I have to lift a shovel and manually scoop the soil into the pots until the bags are 1/2 empty before I'm able to pick up the bag to dump. It takes fourteen bags of 40 lbs of soil to fill up just one chest and remember that I have six of those chests to fill up. I have to use this same shovel to break apart the organic garden soil and stir up the soil real good which is backbreaking work so the gloves are awesome protection. The soil absolutely has to be tilled otherwise the soil remains in clumps so each shovelful of dirt requires additional chopping up of the soil. Container growing requires the soil to remain loose and finely textured. And yes, those chests are all FINISHED, NO MORE SOIL AGONY, hahahaha!

So these gloves saved my hands! I've done several pruning as well to get rid of all the canker and diseased canes from the miserable flooding rains we've been getting too, so they do just as fantastic against thorns.

Craftmanship of these gloves are so superior that I can imagine them lasting forever! Can't beat that deal, lol! I am one happy, happy camper!

I can't wait to hear how you found yours to be, Greenhaven and Eric! whoo-hoo and I've got 8 thorned climbing roses now (2 are thornless). I am PREPARED to the MAX, lol!

Yup, Jim, those gloves definitely got more soil than most gloves encounter within 8 years'lifetime, hahaha! I was laughing so hard because the 2nd delivery truckman was complaining that my palette weighed at least "1,000 lbs" and that's why he was refusing to deliver it closer to my driveway instead of the curb, unlike the 1st helpful delivery guy. And I was thinking ha! I have to drag and pull the soil with my leg as a forklift so THERE! stop your whining and excuses and trolley it closer to my stepway. LOL! and he did at my insistence.

Yikes! I will correct myself here! Order a size up when ordering Bear Wallow gloves for maximum comfort...

Mine fit perfectly but most people will need to order a size up from their normal glove size!
