Need Preschool Snack- Jello, Healthy?
Comments (19)I was never a fan of blue jello. Blue jello and gummy fish is pure sugar. Blue jello and goldfish just sounds icky. When I was a kid I loved sliced bananas in strawberry jello. Sure, the jello was pure sugar and food coloring and artificial flavor, but there wasn't that much and into each life some jello must wiggle. I have made "dirt" cups with lowfat chocolate pudding mixed with crushed chocolate grahmns--still very sweet but not totally off the charts. Mix in one gummy worm for fun. Kids really liked that. You could make updated "ants on a log" with celery, hummus and quartered black olives. Kids love the ones with peanut butter but you can't mess around now days with peanut allergies. I had a friend who died from just a candy bar with a trace of peanut oil in it, (his lungs collapsed) and I have been paranoid ever since. Finger sandwiches cut with cookie cutters? No bakes? Chinese chews (melted butterscotch chips mixed with crunchy noodles). Some of this is healthier than other things. Depends on whatever else the kids have been eating during the day. I'd prefer to err on the side of healthy, just to be a good example since this snack time is a regular thing. Sweet treats are for special occasions like parties, IMHO. At least if you are trying to set some kind of reasonable example....See MoreLOOKING for: Healthy snacks

Comments (17)These are really good. little smokies sausage ( the little miniature ones) bacon brown sugar wrap bacon around little smokie, roll in brown sugar lay them on a broiler pan cook in oven till bacon is crispy or done to your liking. I set my oven around 350 or so. Spear them on a toothpick I like the small cut up pieces of beef sticks, you can buy those by the package in beef or turkey. I put a piece of those and a cheese cube together on a toothpick, if I have them I add a seedless grape. The flavors are great together. I find those packages of the beef stick pieces either where the beef jerky is in some stores they have it in the refrigerated area near the cheese. Comments (9)Late night snacking urges come from endocrine and metabolism imbalances. If you want to find out how to get rid of Cravings for good read the book Mastering Leptin. Or you can look up 5 rules of the leptin diet online. The most important thing is not to eat after dinner or 3 hours before bed. If you do the 5 rules, POOF go the cravings like magic. It really does work. If you just are so hungry for something sweet, try fresh lemon juice in warm water and see if your craving will pass. You NEED an empty stomach when you sleep so your liver can do its work releasing stored fats and repairing tissues and giving toxins the boot. You lose all of that great stuff when you snack....See Morewintercat_gw
