Take it from me what CR says about Thermador wall ovens is absolutely true. I have purchased two 30" C series Thermador ovens and am getting ready to replace the one that was existing in the home we purchased last year. Loved the way my Thermador's cooked, baked, and broiled but had to have them repaired. It seems there is insufficient insulation between the oven and the electric control panel and when you use the self clean, over time, it causes the control panel to fail. This is a minimum $1,000 repair. I live in Dallas and there is only ONE company in this area that will service Thermador ovens because Thermador service dept is so difficult to deal with. My regular service company which is efficient and costs are fair told me they stopped servicing Thermador ovens for that reason and three others I tried said the same thing. Both my Thermador ovens needed the control panel replaced within three years of purchasing and the one in our new home could not pass inspection and had to be repaired by the seller before we moved in - yep it was the panel and it cost them $1,200. They didn't cook and it was an older oven. The space we have for the wall oven is 27" and after looking and looking and doing research and reading here and other web sites with independent reviews by actual owners we have chosen the Miele Master Chef Classic Series which has the Novatronic controls which everyone seems to love. This choice was made in part because of the rotisserie feature which we do use quite a bit along with other features we liked and which were well reviewed. It was more expensive but we went with a straight Microwave which suites our needs and we chose the Electrolux Ei27MO45TS microwave which meets all our needs and was well reviewed. Went with the Miele warming drawer because of the match and the fact that it was the same price as most other warming drawers we were considering. We stack our ovens in an unusual way which we really like with the actual wall oven first, then the microwave, and then the warming drawer. It is logical to us because the heaviest items come out of the oven and having it at the top means no stooping and it's easier on the back. We usually only use the warming drawer when we entertain and to reheat leftovers which it does so much better than a microwave. Still trying to decide on which Fridge and Freezer columns to choose but that's another forum

parma42: Thanks, I just wasn't sure and needed some re-assurance about the wainscoting. I too liked that small blue sample to the right of the other two. I wish I knew what color that was and why we nixed it. That was 15 samples ago (no kidding) and back when I thought, "this will be fun". I'll find it and put a larger sample on the wall and post for your opinion. Do you think it's too much blue with blue on top and white below chair rail for DS's room? DS since turning 13 speaks in grunts and really could care less about what color is on his wall, just so long as it's not airplanes and fish. He really only picked the lighter blue for his bathroom because I promised him he could sleep in for another hour if he made a decision. The gray undertones looked beyond awful with the carpeting. #2: Do you pretty please have a creamy white or soft green color suggestion? #3: Same as above. Any taupe or beige colors in mind? Your comment on a previous post made me take a really good look at her room. Her room makes her so happy and I always smile when I'm in there either waking her up for school or tucking her in. I only plan on painting over the faux from chair rail down. There are too many dings and scratches and it give the room a kind of grungy feel. Another nail on the head is the blue/gray for DD(16)'s room. What type of computer screen do you have? You saw the gray in the blues clashing with the brown?! The large left sample is my DH's & DD's first choice. I really like it myself. Do you think that it would be overwhelming to have an entire BR that color?

I think it might work great, but white is tricky since the white of the countertop won't exactly match the white of the subway tile/cabinets. A very light grey would be probably be easier to match, although I don't know if that color scheme would be as timeless as all white. We ended up going with no backsplash (!!) and just the light grey walls. But I love an all white kitchen - and I think you might have the not-quite matching issue with most countertop color options (unless you go with a darker counter, I guess).

ok here's a mock up with the corner using stock cabinets. I put small cabinets behind the post, I don't know how big the post is going to have to be, so I don't know if that will work, but it takes up some of that space, and they could be accessed from beneath the bar. I added that small glass cabinet sort of over/beside the sink because it looked too empty there. I didnt know what else to do. The cabinet between the dishwasher and the sink is 21" but it might be better to have two smaller ones. I also have to measure my dining room because in this scenario I'm going to lose about 3 feet of dining room including the full depth peninsula and the overhang. This has be only sacrificing about one cabinet though. Of course, if the dining room can't handle the reduction, I could move the whole thing over a foot closer to the stove. but then the post isn't really behind the sink. Oh and this was using a 36" sink cabinet.
