My Anthurium Was Almost Dead...Now Its ALIVE!! And Blooming!!
Comments (20)Purple, I have two other anthuriums apart from this one (Home Depot sent me a coupon for buy one plant, get one free so I got two for $10! LOL). The color of leaves on those are a lime green color. I guess it depends on the type of anthurium. I'm not an expert in the varieties but I do know that some of them are hybrid plants. Maybe nothing is wrong with your plant at all. Wndy, I have a big Peace Lily too. I have it at work under artificial light (no windows). It bloomed from when I got it (last April) until August of last year. It hasn't bloomed since then. I don't know what's wrong but my fingers are crossed like yours. Hopefully in the warmer months both mine and yours will start blooming again....See MoreHaworthia: can't tell if it's alive?
Comments (14)Oh they are tough little plants arent they?my plants suffered from irregular watering and they became limp and not growing that much. Then i figured that they need more water than say, cacti. Now i water them just like my other plants EXCEPT when they are dormant and/or they replace their roots.Even in winter i water them a little and they are happy as a pig in the mud!!!!so my advice would be to water your plant a little more..oh,and give it strong light if you can!! (Haworthia arachnoidea var nigricans seedling, its pot sometimes floods but it doesnt complain,it has excellent drainage!) Comments (10)Greg- I hear what you're saying. I had a golf outing Saturday afternoon and it was sunny and 77. Totally comfortable. That's the weather you guys get in the winter. A lot of northerners who only go to Florida in the winter have no conception of how hot it gets down there in the summer. Of course my palms all grow in the high 70s but when we get a stretch for even just 3 or 4 days when it hits the 90s they just explode. I try to imagine how fast they would grow down there. JL Florida- Any palms you would try to grow up here will need varying degrees of winter protection. Sabal Minor, Needls, Trachys. I would suggest ordering the book "Palms won't Grow here and other myths". It's very detailed and will help. It may be a little late in the summer to try. Half of our Michigan growing season is over....See MoreIt's alive! (How do I keep it that way?)
Comments (1)Is it Aphids? shot it with some soapy water and see if it washes off. Sago's have been having a rough time in Florida recently...some type of scale has been causing alot to die a slow and ugly death. ; [...See MoreVulture61
