Holy cow I've never seen a succulent get that leggy before-get that poor guy some sun! A South or southwest window is best, because it's not getting enough sun and is getting leggy trying to stretch out to find more sun. Another variety of them also from 2012. I have them in solid colors and multi colors in the containers. My neighbors look for their showy and breadth taking blooms every year since I started growing them... Many never heard of Lily Trees beforehand. I have to cut the stalks back at the end of the growing season, just like the low growing lilies, and, they pop up through the soil the same way,around May and start blooming late June and early July in Ocean County, "Down by the Jersey Shore." If you haven't heard of the Lily Trees, take this thead as an educational one on them. Will post more photos of them as this growing season for them goes onwards this year, 2014. Would love to see other growers photos of them too, and, how and where you plant them and if you use tomato cages on them or not. And if and how you fertilize them, etc. I love these Lily Trees better than the other Lilies I'm growing because I think that they are the showiest of all.

Time outdoors is a great idea. Your plant will love it and show it. To be the best grower in the land, all you need to do is be the best at identifying what's barring your plant from realizing all of its genetic potential and fixing it. Most of the potentialities are concentrated in a few basic areas. Soil choice and issues related to watering habits are what bring most growers here seeking remediation for their sick plants. You MUST be able to keep the root system healthy if the plant is to be healthy. Other areas of consideration are light, nutrition (easy), and a root maintenance plan that eliminates limitations associated with root congestion. This will help you get a sense of the basics involved with growing in containers. It's much different than growing in earth/gardens. After you read that, I suggest you take on this piece that discusses what kind of influence soil choice has on your chances for success. This thread about maintaining trees in containers over the long term will also be info critical to enduring success. If you get through those and gain an understanding of the info, I think you'll be well over the hump we all hit early in our growing journey. Nandina is a shrub, not a bamboo (which is a grass)!! It has a completely different growth habit and is also likely an invasive species in FL as it is in much of the southeast.
