how elevated is the window .... great english eh .. lol ...

i mean your standing at the window ... so you will need shrubs that get tall enough to block the view ... to your eye level ...

but dont put yourself in the box of only planting out near the property line ... or a straight line of plants ..... a small tree closer to the window.. might do the job faster .... and even if deciduous .... it will dull the sight line in winter ...

red bud is pretty dense when leafed out .... brilliant spring show .. and pretty fast grower ... not the foo foo ones ...

I think the biggest issue is the part-shade situation, ? will redbud do ok in part shade?

Redbud and dogwood trees both do fine along woodland edges and so should be happy there. My redbud gets perhaps 2-3 hours of morning sun depending on the time of year, but is in shade the remainder of the day, and I have a Kousa dogwood in a similar setting.

How much space do you actually have between the house and the property line? I find it difficult to judge from the photos. If there is room, having some trees toward the property line and then shrubs in front of them, creating a border of woodies, might give a longer season of interest and look like a purposeful ornamental garden rather than just something there to block an unsightly view. Depending on your sight lines, choose your distance from the window and the height of the plants to block what you don't to see. An open window for communication, an adjustable pole with a blob taped to the end, and another person to hold them while you view from inside can help you pin down placements and heights to best suit your needs.

Here's a shrub/small tree bed that I put in to block sight lines to a work area where DH processes and stores wood. My goal was to stay below about 15'-20' since there are solar panels I don't want to shade, and I like that one can see the buildings a bit, but most of the clutter of machinery and big tree trunks are hidden all year. It's perhaps 15' deep on average, and most of the plants were smaller than 3' when installed; this photo is at year 5, but it looked rather empty for the first season. In summer, one can only see a few scraps of roof. I like that there is repetition and some evergreens of various colors, but also with perennials, vines and shrubs that flower and add fall color to create a changing view over the course of the year. It always has birds in it, feeding or nesting. Mostly it provides my eye a place to rest that doesn't have work materials.

That is lovely, Babs. I admire how well you have spaced the plants. I always plant things too close together and have to cut down lots of them within five years.
