Paint Design Dilemma hallway

Paint colours - HELP!

Has anyone had any good experience painting their hallway a dark charcoal colour? If so, could you provide me some images for inspiration? I'm moving into my new house in a few weeks and I'm stuck on finalizing my colours! So any advice would be helpful:)

I love my grays so I plan on using BM Stonington Gray in the south facing areas of the house (Living/dining), but I'm stumped on what to do with my Kitchen/Hallway areas where it is north facing.

I had a crazy idea last night of going dark and dramatic in the hallway and adding in some nice potlots and white trim. The only issue is, if I do paint the hallway dark, it would have to lead up to the stairway hall and through the top floor.

What do you think?

If not, my original idea was to just go safe and paint the hallway/kitchen BM Collingwood gray.

It's not a hallway but I painted my staircase a dark blueish purple. I plan on adding a chalkboard clear coat to the entire wall and artwork and having chalk markers so my kid and his friends can use the wall as a chalkboard. Haven't gotten around to applying the clear coat yet. I just did it a couple of weeks ago and am loving it. I say pick out your charcoal grey and go for it! If you don't end up liking it, paint is easy enough to change. I wanted lots of drama and I love art so this is what I ended up with. The wall is 6 feet wide and 15 feet tall.

Your house really look nice. And the idea of painting it gray is a good one actually i thought of that as my suggestion. And you can also blend white or black if you want it dark. Then put some lights that will contract to the color of your house.

I've just picked up a sample of Glidden's Autumn Haze and I really like it. I'm hoping i'll get to paint this weekend if the drywallers finish up today. It's a light sand color that looks light, fresh and neutral. I really like it against the creamy white. You can pick up a pre-mixed tester for under $2 at Home Depot. I'm planning to buy it at my local Glidden Professional store formerly ICI Dulux. They carry the higher end paint lines that are better quality than the Home Depot version. K

Here are some color schemes that might be nice with dark gray: white with bright pops of yellow; light blue/green; white and bright teal. I know not all of these are "kids" rooms, but you can see the direction it would go. The furniture is really a dark gray, so I think it would look better with perhaps white walls, and bright pops of color. (Apologies to anyone reading who hates the phrase "pop of color"--I said it anyway.) Probably the first thing you should do is choose your bedding, and go from there.

hello, we are soon moving into our first home and want to do some painting right away. I am so indecisive and would love any suggestions you might have for paint colors that you think would work well in our kitchen and also the entry way (to replace the dark color). The rest of the house is fairly neutral..the livingroom and hallway are essentially white. The furnishings in the photos are obviously not ours :) Thanks!

if the plan is to keep the wall color I think you need a cooler white or off white for the cabs. Silver satin looks to be a very warm off white. You could take the formula of intense white and go a shade or two lighter or darker if you want a near match. Intense white and silver satin have the same color intensity so you may be trying to match I assume. But note that one is near grayish and the other has more yellow/ this wont work . what else is going on as far as counters /floors /etc???
