Would you like to see a little bit of my garden?
Comments (14)What nice people you are! Thank you so much for your kind comments. I love to spend time in the garden. I am only half joking when I say I work to support my garden habit. To be honest, I have not gotten the use from the composter that I should. I need to start over with the proper combination of browns and greens. (I have an old fashioned compost pile too, and it isn't as fussy.) The statues were a Christmas gift from my son and daughter-in-law a couple of years ago. I painted them to match everything else in my garden, mainly because I was foolish enough to leave them outside the first winter and it led to some damage from freezes. The tags are from Oakes. I love to know what a plant is named and otherwise could not remember all of them. There are about about a hundred and five or ten TB iris. I love the really bright ones. (Sheer Elegance is probably my favorite.) Mostly they are tall bearded iris, but I have Dutch iris and a few little tiny things that just appeared this year: I believe I did not get an item I ordered and got these little things instead. I do have one Japanese Iris that I've had for several years, and another odd type that is new... Can't think of the name, but it starts with an "S". Some of the iris are rebloomers...Village Tryst bloomed three times last year! I love the Japanese Maples too. I've had these for several years, and they are growing nicely. I have to prune the one in the back somewhat severely or it will kill off the others by stealing their sun. The one on the right was a gift from DH, and it has a lovely distorted almost sculptural look even when it is leafless in Winter. There is a smaller one that a storm knocked a big oak limb on that almost split it into two halves. I went out with duct tape, taped it back, and it healed up beautifully. Duct tape will fix anything, even a tree. I love to see the pictures of your gardens. I am enjoying this forum and the people who write here. kay...See MoreWould you like to see 17,000 photos of My Grandchildren??

Comments (8)I don't know what you mean by filter handles. My hood has baffles and each baffle has a very small knob at the bottom that you turn to take out the baffle for cleaning. Some hoods have mesh filters instead of baffles - don't know if those have handles. Can you post a picture or a link to such a hood so we can see what you're referring to....See MoreWould seeing the side of your range drive you crazy?
Comments (11)Markar: Sorry, I don't think I can post pictures anytime very soon--I've never done it and don't have time to learn right now, though I have read the instructions on this site. I have pictures on my camera but as yet they are not on my computer or a photo sharing site. I will post some eventually but not sure when. I have lurked for over a year but never posted til now so I'm a novice at this. Basically, I did away with the corner cabinet and cabinets on the sides of the range that used to be part of an L-shaped kitchen. I find corner cabinets awkward and/or a waste of space, and then there were the reasons above for not putting cabinets on the sides of the stove. So now my sink wall, one leg of the L, is the only run of countertop I have, with open shelving above and below. The stove wall, the other leg of the L, has the range in the middle, a tall narrow freestanding metal cabinet to the right which still allows access to the end of the sink wall shelving, and some narrow soapstone shelves sitting on brackets attached to the wall to the left of the stove but with a few inches of space between them and the stove. Perhaps that description is as clear as mud...I will post pictures when I can get around to it. Hope I'm not hijacking this thread too badly....See Moreldstarr
