6. Black Beauty
JZ Interior Designs added drama to this mostly white-and-wood kitchen in Orange County, California, with a black island base and a custom black steel range hood trimmed in brass. 7. Counter Match
Designer Amy Crovetti of Gilmans Kitchens and Baths clad the range hood in this San Francisco Bay Area kitchen in the same engineered quartz as is used for the countertops. She had her fabricator create a custom sheath out of the quartz, then slid that sheath over a plywood structure that wraps the vent hood liner. The workers used adhesive and braced the cover in place for about a week as the adhesive dried.

8. Black, White and Brown
Dramatic black stands out on the range hood in this unique kitchen in Dallas from
Studio Neshama. Black tiles and wood laid in a herringbone pattern ground the glossy white perimeter cabinets, which are edged in wood. As it’s the only dark element on the wall, the range hood draws the eye. It also looks intentionally designed because it matches the dark floors and bar stools.

12. Subway Tiled
Unlike the other range hoods in this group, which stand out from the surrounding design, the hood in this Bangor, U.K., kitchen from Adornas Kitchens & Interiors is intended to blend in. The hood itself is incorporated within a tiled surface that matches the wall. Heavy oak shelves installed at the same height and depth as the hood give the homeowners space for plants and recipe books, and they also provide a surface for installing LED strip lights for task lighting. The slim-profile counters are a concrete-look quartz.
