I am returning both medallions to the tile store today. Unless they have another medallion that says "that's it", I am going to skip it. They are both nice in my opinion but neither passes my "Sweeby test". Cork2win: Yep, they are laying it light to light and then reverse. At first I didn't know what to think, I just figured it would be layed in a radomn pattern. Our tile guy is very meticulous about grout lines, patterns, etc. so I trusted his judgement on this and I really like it.

I might paint ONLY the spindles but beyond that, I don't think I'd paint the trim. Are you asking about wall color too? That would depend on the rest of your house, but with little natural light, I would not use anything dark

Pictures & dimensions would help, sounds like you already have three different colors going on so far so maybe just the same as the living & dining rooms? Is the entry open to the hall? If not, there are some interesting wall coverings now that look great in entry’s.....
