cost/quality of quartz manufacturers
Comments (63)jpdunlop- My post above has an old link to the NY Times with plenty of articles on Chinese products and recalls. Let's not pretend that Chinese manufacturing practices are the same as in the US, or the products they use to produce these cheap as possible goods have vigorous safety standards. Does the US produce junk? Of course- every country does. But no other country seems to produce as much "unsafe" junk as China. Of course it's up to the individual, and based on how popular Walmart and it's ilk are, we'll continue to import the crappiest of the crap, because we want the cheapest of the cheap, and just take our chances. But if I don't absolutely need to buy Chinese made or sourced, which is nearly impossible these days, I won't - my choice....See MoreHelp a girl out with countertop choice please!!!
Comments (93)Love all your choices. My only suggestion would be to do a different backsplash behind the range because the grooves design will trap the splatters from the cooktop. A stainless steel panel backsplash behind the cooktop which meets the hood will add sparkle and shine, is practical for that area, and is very reasonably-priced. There are also stainless steel backsplashes for behind the range that come in patterns - quilted (for that diner look), tile pattern, all sorts of looks - just google "stainless steel backsplash". Or just do the standard stainless steel panel for simplicity and a clean look. You could also use your soapstone as a panel behind the cooktop. That will look sharp, but add $$$....See MoreFound our marble island slab, suggestions for perimeter & backsplash?
Comments (35)Hi Jade BR. We are in Mountain View, CA. Somehow our marble slabs were much cheaper at this store (MSI International) than marble slabs at other stores. I think calacatta costs more in general. Also, the price I mentioned above did not include fabrication, so that's something to keep in mind. Total cost including three slabs, fabrication, honing, and sealing was $10,068. Thanks everyone! Yes, there was so much drama. :) Now we are happily just living in our kitchen and so happy to not be remodeling!...See Morecan't decide between quartz or marble for kitchen island
Comments (41)Hi everyone so it’s been a year now. After searching and searching, we ended up tearing all the tops out and doing MT Blanc quartzite everywhere. There are beautiful! However I’m still looking for a good dealer (the one i used doesn’t block oil very well)....See MoreCarolina Kitchen & Bath
