need exterior advice. what to do with brick, garage color
Comments (9)To me the last pic looks somewhat dark and gloomy. I wouldn't paint the brick...looks nice to me. What is the true roof color...light or medium gray? My choice would be to keep the siding light. Paint the garage door the same color as the siding. That will keep it less of a focal point....See MoreWhat style is my '69 home exterior and any suggestions for improvement
Comments (14)Thanks for all the comments, this is great. It looks like the garage door is still solid and can be scraped and painted, so I will likely look at doing that instead of replacement and try to save it from the landfill, it's just starting to get rough cosmetically. I agree, the next garage door would likely be better with windows. I will post some photos of the porch concrete issue and the well pump head for suggestions. I wonder about tiling the concrete step or doing some sort of stamped concrete. I also wonder how that would stage -- do it before or after the post work?? -- Thanks again!...See MoreHoping to learn what type of house this is and advice on exterior
Comments (15)Interesting home. Mostly like it except for those two too small upstairs windows in the middle section. Changing the center section would have the most visual impact. What changes would work would depend upon what rooms are behind there. Bedrooms? Creating a window wall upstairs -- almost the entire wall such as with fixed windows (think lake cabin) or, better yet, a balcony (or just the rail of a faux balcony) and patio doors would be worth considering. If you will be doing your own landscaping, when you remove the shrubs, consider replanting them along the back property boundary for a natural fence. If you don't want to keep them, you might be able to give all the healthy ones to a local landscaping company in exchange for their removing them -- but if you give them away, do expect holes to be left in their place as a root ball is removed.....See MoreLooking for advice on what to do with our exterior.
Comments (12)In this case I would do a wash over the stone. It’s tricky though because you only want to do enough to make it less bossy. You want some stone colors to show through. To me it looks horrible when done to look almost like a solid color. I like this. It’s just shy of going too much but you can still see the stone shades. Houssaon’s door ideas are great as well as mention of the spindle change. I would only do some glass on the main entry door. It’s confusing as to what door to go to if you didn’t live there. It’s the house of “door”. I‘m guessing the area with the spindles is the main entry. I would do some type of landscaping or hardscaping to help sweep your eye in that direction. Also, is there any way you could change that extra front door to the main house garage into a window? Maybe there is other single doors into the garage? Or, we just have a code pad near our garage door that opens for foot traffic....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
