Easter Sunday....April Fools!!

Anyone else getting a cold forecast for this weekend? I should've known that something silly would happen when I saw that Easter falls on April Fool's this year!!! Highs are looking to stick around 40 on Sunday, and freezing temperatures at night, possible snow! If it stays clear, I will need to cover anything outside to keep the wind off the next morning when it freezes, as I could very well see us dropping down to 20; however, if it stays cloudy as predicted maybe it'll stay around the predicted 30, which isn't bad. Better safe than sorry. The next week looks rainy and cool again, 50's. Pretty typical- but back to 40's and predicted FROZEN MIX the next weekend!!!

The weather is such a trade off at this time of year.

Sunday night we have a possible low of 30, rain/freezing rain. Monday only a high of 49. Tuesday night, we have a possible low of 25, 31 on Wednesday night.

It's roller-coaster season. I sure hope we can keep the flowers on our fruit trees, but it's a crapshoot every spring.

Gives me total appreciation of our pioneer ancestors trying to stay alive in the Ozarks.

Isn't that right. Fruit trees ARE a crapshoot here. My grandparents in MO have had fruit trees blooming already, and they get fruit about once every fifth year, and this year is the fifth year so they should get them, but this will likely freeze their trees. Our forecast has come to be about the same as yours now. I'll probably cover up my brassicas in the ground with tarps or mason jars tonight.

I was able to get some turnips and potatoes in today, and some beetroot in yesterday. It's shaping up to be a cool spring I think

I don't know how are ancestors did it!!

HI... I thought that I put a post here... wonder where I did? I actually got the package on the 14th I remember because it was flag day.... I will repost.. THank you so much Paula, for the great box.. I rec. delphin. (sp) and I have always wanted these as well as two coreopsis. An awesome Frog statue for my mantle and a bell chime.. Deb included a picture of herself and what a hottie!!! I can't wait to get the film developed to see the gardens I am just trying to use up the film as not to waste it.. I am super glad that everyone had so much fun and I am sorry it took so long.. Maybe next time I can think of something that won't be so confusing Oh yeah I hit the jackpot with all the great seeds you all included... Thanks again for playing.. Karen, You certainly are the early Easter bird this year. I love your stacking plates and you chose perfect items to use on them. Good idea to glue some of your little items together. Hopefully if Brat Cat does decide to check your plates out he'll check those first and think it's all glued. LOL I love your egg tree and bunnies from Michael's. And of course your F&F bunny basket. And do NOT think you are hogging any posts! We love all of your pics. Very inspiring to me to get busy around here. I haven't even gotten my Easter out of storage yet and like Luvs, have no idea of what I have to use on my stacking plates either. To be honest, my stacking plates still have St Paddy's on them. I should be ashamed! Yachter, I have decided that all stores sell different things. Everytime someone has posted a pic of something I've liked and where they bought it I've gone searching, but much of the time without luck. For years I had a very bad cat and a very spoiled Mini Peke and "I" lived in "their" house. I would give anything to have them both with me now though. I now have 1 lab and he is the biggest baby I've ever had. He is very gentle and laid back so the only thing I can't do is put any stuffed animals within his reach as he will get them and take them to his bed with his other babies.

I'm Ukrainian. The Saturday before Easter we would go to church and get our Easter basket blessed. Our families basket would contain the food for Easter, which includes, Keilbasa, ham, hard boiled eggs, butter, farmers cheese, horseradish and paska (an Easter bread) and Ukrainian Easter eggs (not edible). I'm in same boat as your grandparents, I think. Everything's in bloom. Yikes.

I was going to plant some beet seeds I'd soaked today but I'm going to see if I can get them to "hold" in the refrigerator till Weds.

It was a very beautiful morning today- started out sunny and in the 50's. It's a real pity it's so gloomy now and we'll have a cold front rolling in tonight! lol

What varieties are you planting? I sowed Detroit Dark Red yesterday
