We recently bought a home with beautiful golden, honey oak floors. There is also honey oak trim (and doors) and big golden-y oak beams. We plan to eventually paint the trim white and replace the doors (later down the road), but will keep the honey oak floors and beams. My question is--which wall color do you think would go best with this warm oak color? Benjamin Moore's Edgecomb Gray, or Benjamin Moore's Balboa Mist? Those are my top two right now. Any other suggestions would be welcome! Added: I realize in the photos I attached, the two paint colors look pretty much the same, but I swear they're different! But if you know anything about either of these colors, I'd love input! First is Balboa Mist and second is Edgecomb Gray.

You definitely need some color, personally whites, creams and anything in the brown family is drab. Try a matte mossy green, or light olive tone. The lighter greens go well with your trim, add color, and a welcoming feel.

Well, don't go break the bank on something that hands out radon, or cannot be effectively cleaned without a college diploma! A very nice countertop that is a solid surface, and just simply white will be very pretty. Keep it simple, Let your floor shine. Oak and cedar wood does go with green(I call yours' Emerald and Gold....not really Forest or Pine on my monitor) just take a walk in a park or maybe just in a Nature area. There is nothing prettier than wood and green grass with the colors of birds and butterflies around. Nature does not make mistakes...so I think the counters, and the appliances as they can(need is the only thing that moves mine out)be changed to white with your sink....will be a very pleasant transition, and be careful doing that drywall painting. Your floor and your wood and your counters will need some time and effort to be duly protected. Maybe that will sink and counter top will lead you to the right shade for your walls. There are alot to choose from in just the family of lites/ whites..

I decided to buy new solid core doors. We are mid project right now so some are white, some are still wood. I'll post a pic so you can see a side by side comparison of the 2 colors. Maybe that will help you. After doing the first door, I decided the trim needed to be painted as well. We have multiple trim types with varying color and some didn't blend as nicely with the white. However, I am going to keep the baseboards wood. We also bought new windows and decided to go white. The jury is still out on the window trim depending on the room.
