Darn...I just ruined my favorite t-shirt
Comments (10)Susan I've thought about that before. Another cute thing is to stamp the shirt with a rubber stamp and bleach... And I would if it were a plain t-shirt, but it has a v neck with little flowers embroidered all around the neck. All in the same color...So I don't think it would look good. I 'spose it's time to let it go...I've worn it so much I noticed the shoulders are a little different color from sun fading. But I still loved it. I felt good in it. Ya know what I mean? For me it's not what other people think of my clothes, it how I feel in them. Hummm...maybe I'll try re-dyeing it.. patti...See MoreT shirt suggestions
Comments (5)I did make t-shirts once upon a time. The fabric was cheaper than what you could buy a t-shirt for. Now You can buy good t-shirts fairly cheaply especially if they are on sale. I think that is why you find very few t-shirt knits in the fabric stores. I think, before you buy material you should cost out the price of making one compared to buying one. You should also practice making seams and hems on an old t-shirt to see how your machine would sew them. Your machine has to have a perfect stitch or you will get stretched out wavy seams. If you go ahead after you have done the practicing. Read through the link below. Pick a fabric that is not super stretchy. Always cut the fabric so the stretchiest part goes around you not up and down. Some use lastin elastic to give stability to places like shoulder seams. Cut the neck band and sleeveless bands so it is the least stretchy like the length and slightly smaller than the opening. It will have enough stretch to go around curves but won't stretch out of shape and will lie flat. I would also google sewing with knits and see what tips you can pick up Here is a link that might be useful: sewing with knits...See MoreRoomy coat brands? And no choky-itchy neck?
Comments (29)After reading these posts I decided the Free Country jacket/coat may work for me. I had bought a new coat from Penney's last fall since my 13-year-old doubled fleece hoody; and my 15-year-old -40 rated parka could use some help between the two extremes. I went to Kohl's to check out the Free Country coats. The selection was picked over, but I then realized I was wearing my new coat - and it was a Free Country, size 2X. The one I got at Penney's back in October. Did I feel silly or what? I am 5'1" and very plump. This coat is a normal length 2X; so it comes below mid-thigh on me - and I love the length. It has a full, wide hood (not removable) that can easily cover a hat or cap along with my XL brain box! :) The coat is reversible, water resistant on one side, and fuzzy fleece on the other. There are two roomy pockets on each side plus a zippered chest pocket on the slick side. This description is from Penney's web site, and the coat is now $20 less than what I paid for mine. You don't have to snap it all the way up. There soft fleece inside and you can leave the neck opening as small or large as you wish. ... Reversible jacket from Free Country, featuring a water-resistant exterior and butter-soft pile fleece interior. * midweight reversible design water resistant hooded sleeve pocket vertical zippered chest pocket 2 lower pockets (flap pockets with side slit hand warmer pockets)polyester washable imported Mine is grey; they did not have a black that would fit me. The JCP site shows them all nipped in and fitted. Mine fits more like this black one above, or even more "full!"; I don't tighten the waist cord. It's roomy; easy on and off (if I'm not wearing fleece sweaters ) and really blocks the wind. There is a zipper closing under the snap-shut storm flap....See MoreWhite shirt recommendation
Comments (7)I live in the Talbots Bateau Neck 3/4 Sleeve Tee and the Talbots Crew Neck Long Sleeve Tee. They are a wonderful Pima cotton. I seriously cannot tell you how many of these I have, but I’m pretty sure it is more than 2 dozen. I have multiple navy, white, and black, because I buy a new one each year. And then when the shirts go on sale, I pick up a couple more. I’m boring, but consistent. 😉 I have one of the Talbot’s white shirts, tunic style. It is really thin. It is so thin that even in the summer, I wear a tank under it. Other than that, I like it. I also have a white no-iron shirt from Lands’ End. It isn’t really no-iron. Other than that, it is a good product. And a white shirt from Uniqlo. They don’t seem to have the 100% cotton shirt I bought. They all have a touch of Spandex now. I haven’t bought much from Uniqlo, but I’ve liked what I did buy. I might give them a try, if I were looking for a white shirt....See Morecmm1964
