Basement bar dilemma countertop colors with white cabinets

We are redoing our basement and doing a contemporary industrial look with it.

I need help with granite. Photos of ideas are appreciated as well.

Gray flooring and white cabinets With a panel on the backside where the overhang will be.

Can I do a white marble looking granite for the counters or is that strange with white cabinet?? It will be stainless steel sink with copper accents

The marble may look a bit more traditional than contemporary. I would suggest a solid white quartz if you want to go white. I do not think it will look bad with white cabinets.

OR you can go in the opposite direction and use a darker granite. A leathered black might be cool and have more of the industrial look you are going for.

It is not the cabinets you have to worry about but those 2 types of wood for no reason that makes sense BTW. I would do a very simple quartz with no movement and IMO the bar should have been left at counter height that just looks like a big wood box.

The cabinet company will be making a base out of 2x4s and secure them to the floor via tapcons all over the place. Then, the cabinets will be placed on top of that base, and screwed to the bases. Then the Skin will be applied and secured to the base and to the cabinets along with toe kicks. on the back of the cabinets and on the base a 3/4 piece of MDF will join the cabinets to the bases. There will be three corbels on the island with the steel supports as well. The countertop will have a radial edge and start around 3 or 4" overhang on the sides and then go up to around 12, (most likely around 10") in the middle. I am worried about it tipping over but they swear that it won't go anywhere.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We moved this past year and yes, it’s a terrible kitchen layout. Unfortunately I know that my husband will not ever do a total kitchen remodel. We just don’t know how long we will live here to make it worth it. We made the mistake of doing WAY to much to our last house and ended up moving after only 1.5 years. We will be rotating the cooktop so that it is still in the island but instead face the fridge. There’s no way to put it elsewhere without getting all new cabinets, I tried. I see what you are saying with the grey, and maybe I should have said lighter counter as I’m not tied to grey, just something a little brighter. Is there any lighter granite that works well with Ooba Tooba? My main question is still do I only do the island counter or do I do the entire kitchen’s counters to be uniform?

Thank you again. I am thinking more darker or intense color which would be more cooler. I would definitely get couple of samples to see how they will look with my counter. I think I m actually going to go with the cream/white dove cabinets and charcoal grey island with white/Creme backsplash. In the end if we decide that we have a budget to do something with the floors, which tone of wood flooring or wood like tiles will go with this color choice ??? I personally like dark grey oak floors but right next to kitchen is living and foyer with light bamboo floors!!!!

No sticky paper, please please please. If you choose to repaint the cabinets, you could largely conceal the panel outlines, which would make the cabinets look a bit more modern, and the bamboo shades that Lyn suggested are a very good idea. If that kind of shade doesn't suit you, fabric roman shades would be another option. For the paint color, I'd try to match the white background of the laminate. For a pantry cabinet to install above the radiator, you might find or build one that is no deeper than the radiator cover. If a standard upper cabinet were to project out more than that, it would be in the way. It's also possible to recess a cabinet into the wall, but I wouldn't do that on an outside wall.

I have to agree with Patricia. The two woods don't look good together.

Go for a simple quartz (granite is going to be too busy) in white or even gray. The marble look doesn't really go with the style you have.
