I thought this looked somewhat familiar! Why does the print show a round table there? I think the first thing to consider is what is this room really used for. Is it for eating? Can you take the chairs in front of the FP out? I don't think this is that complicated. All of your inquiries seem to put the table outside the center, so yes lighting is going to look weird. Personally I'd center my dining table in that room, hang a nice light over the center, maybe make it an adjustable hanging gig for just in case, and then decorate around the result.

I think they look very similar and would work together. Both are long rectangle shapes. Are there other lights in the line that you could use? The Forte one is beautiful. The Sonnemon 2464 Aspen is similar but broken up rather than a long solid line. I would remove the pendant lite and get a close to ceiling fixture. Need not be spendy.. Then you can place whatever table you have or get something on Craig's list to begin using the space. The fireplace can be a decorative corner with the ledge..There are many table/chair sets on Craig's list. The issue may become size/configuration....drop leaf/pedestal/round/rectangular.you can't know what is best initially...but I would pretty up the space and use it for certain.

Flo, I will try moving the rug over and see what that does with where the blue chair can be. As you know it isn't easy to move a rug that size so any moving of it has to be this week while DH is here. DD, I agree with you that I might need some more of that color in the room and it is always in the back of my mind. The original plan was to have the doors of the TV console cabinets in that walnut, but they warped so badly that we went back to the ones they came with.
