Are you quilting this weekend? March 29-30
Comments (19)Friday I went to the Mancuso Quilt Show in Savannah, and today I cut the remainder of the medallions and melons I need for the double wedding ring quilt I started then set aside last fall. I realize now, after setting this aside, then deciding that I want this to be a queen size quilt rather than a lap quilt, that I needed a lot more medallions and melons. I was fortunate to have overbought, but unfortunate to still be short by 3 medallions. Luckily, I found the fabric online at a FL store, so Monday I will call them to order enough to complete the quilt. I'm almost finished piecing the arcs - 254 arcs total. Am on the last lot - more than 1/2 way through too. My goal for April will be to get through dsd's wedding on Tybee Island April 11 and then finish piecing this double wedding ring quilt. And not go crazy between our new-build- construction and the wedding. oh, big news that I almost forgot to mention, I'm heading back to Savannah tomorrow to pick up the Juki ti2000 that wanted to follow me home! Called the rep today and paid for it, so will pick it up tomorrow! Woohoo. Sharon, don't know what your relationship is to Katie, but very happy to hear that she's beating cancer. It's a wicked disease, and it's amazing and fabulous that she's beating it. Theresa, hope your eyes are better quickly. Marji...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Dec. 9-11
Comments (15)Everyone seems to be very busy, between Christmas and quilting! Just this morning I finished the top of a quilt for my DIL. They moved from S. Florida to N C and it's cold! She requested something to remind her of the beach. I saw this panel at our local Quilt Place, brought it home and cut it up. In my usual fashion, I didn't pay attention to what the pattern recommended for fabrics, consequently, every piece had to be custom cut. (and nope, I won't do this pattern again! - it tried my every fiber!). Now, at her request, I have to order minky - maybe a rust color?? Even tho I hate working with Minky, they ALL love the feel. Now maybe I'll make some quilted Christmas cards for my sisters. Maybe!!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? March 24-26
Comments (9)Lois, it looks good! I also find it helps to take a photo to find those little things that usually jump out at you as soon as you finish the quilt. :) Valarie, enjoy your guild! You probably don't remember, but back when I started my current job two years ago, my boss was Valarie spelled like yours. She left a month after I started, but now she's back! She's in a different job in the finance department. It's nice to have her back! I'm still in shoulder-surgery-recovery mode. It's getting better every day, but it sure is slow! I hardly wear the sling any more, and I'm trying very hard to use it normally as much as I can. I've been driving a rental car since I hurt it in January (!!) because our car is a stick shift. The rental is due back on Apr. 8 and I'm really hoping I'll be able to drive our car by then. I'll probably do a bit of work on my hand piecing project. I need to cut more pieces, so we'll see if I'm up to the ruler and rotary cutter yet. Donna...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Feb. 9-11
Comments (11)I'm working on my Cowboy quilt for the DH. It's made from a panel that's cut up, sashed and re-sashed. I had a photo, but no pattern. Someone offered to make me a pattern on EQ, so I tried to use it, but none of the measurements are correct. So far, I've had to remake every section at least once and sometimes three times. I finally got the middle section to fit correctly, but it didn't fit the side sections, so I have to re-do the sashing on the center section again for the umpteenth time. My piecing has improved, though. There are many lessons to be learned here. Mr. Seamripper has been very busy at my house. I hope that once I get the center and sides together, the other sections will be easier. I'll dust off my grade-school fractions and give them a workout before I start on the final two sections. bkay...See Moregeezerfolks_SharonG_FL
