Can I use dirt from my yard in my large garden planter?

Hello!

I've had a container garden the last couple of years and this year I have decided to graduate to a large raised bed/planter garden (like in the first pic). The second pic is an actual picture of the raised garden bed where I will be putting it, it will be above Landscaping stone.

This raised bed is pretty big and will take a lot more soil than I've needed in previous years in just small containers. I've done a lot of research and it seems like my best bet is half top soil, half peat moss with some lime mixed in to help with acidity and some compost mixed in for nutrients. Anyone disagree with this?

Also, what is the advantage of using top soil versus digging some dirt out of my back yard? If I'm already going to doctor it up to add what it needs, isn't dirt out of my back yard just as good? And free?
