Comments (18)I feel like I wrote this post! Ha! We just did the same thing in my husbands office. He does have high ceilings but walls were bland and he wanted moody green. We used SW 6475 Country Squire and are so happy with it. We did the trim in a bright white and all frames on the wall black to match the desk/chair. Got a light rug from rugs USA. I will post some pictures if it helps you to visualize your room. (We haven’t done anything on the windows yet)....See MoreHelp! Home Office Makeover!
Comments (6)What is the closet used for? Is it full? I ask because the room is small and perhaps adding a shelf/surface in the closet to house printers, fax, file would be a good idea. The desk has straight lines and could really lend itself to a transitional, and more modern esthetic. Do you like the wall color? Studies have proven that individuals don't work well when their back is to an entrance. So although I can see how you likely have your desk positioned to look out the window I would actually change it so that the back is to the closet and you can look to the left out the window or to the right and see the doorway. Depending on what is in that closet the door size is large and will limit furniture layout. I would really look into removing them and as I said before doing some type of built in shelving and lower cabinets/drawers in the space. something like this Ikea Besta is great for storage as well. I have used them in a few spaces ive done and they look sharp when mounted off the floor . Here is one in an office we did. Before anymore suggestions can be made it would be helpful to know what the answers to the questions that have been asked are as well as the colors you're partial to. Then we can make more specific suggestions, do a floor plan and give you some ideas....See MoreBirthday gift- home office makeover
Comments (18)As others have said, an office can be quite personal, so major things probably require more knowledge about the type of work and how it is used. Some smaller things I have found helpful: I also have three screens and have found that a curved desk works well with them. I don't know how feasible that is if you want a stand-sit option. By using a USB dock, I can use all three screens for both the work laptop and the home PC and just switch between them. That only works if you are not needing to use both computers at the same time. It means the laptop can stay closed and sits under one of the monitors. A keyboard tray under the desk frees up vital (for me) desk surface space and helps keep the keyboard at the right height for typing. Similarly, monitor stands mounted to the back of the desk make it easier to move applications between screens and create a bit more space on the desk. I have given up on wire clutter. My workaround is to attach a panel to the back of the desk and trail all the wires between the panel and the wall. Not easy to clean, though....See Morejccrowley73
