Need help with my living room! Too much brown! Lonely loveseat!
Comments (92)Denise, here is a link about lighting. That lamp, to me, is not appropriate for the space without having other lighting, not because of the size, but because the light doesn't point downward. It points upward/outward. It is the type of light you use for ambient lighting of the room. JMO. (Edit: I have to admit I am not a fan of torchiere-type lighting in any form at all, so this may impact my view of that particular floor lamp) Groveraxle, and others on Houzz, are much more knowledgeable in this area than I am....please read these houzz articles to start. Take the time to speak to a lighting professional. It is one of the areas where I see many people forget, or don't know how, to address in their homes....See MoreHelp needed decorating living room with too much brown leather
Comments (23)Lovely space and a lot of great choices already. If you’re willing to switch out the dark brown dresser, would you consider painting it? Maybe a pale blue chalk paint if you’re bring in a few blue/teal/green accents? On the other hand, if you lighten up some of the pieces in your vignette, keeping it the way it is could still work. Find a selection of clear green and turquoise bottles to replace the black ones in your vignette. The lamp is a little too far to the right, the tray with bottles needs to move a smidge to the left. Try covering the books in white to repeat the white from other pieces in the room. I’m an allergy sufferer myself, so I completely get the no rug thing. And all throws and pillow covers must be washable, etc. Regarding plants and dust... very easy solution for that is to give your plants a shower every so often. This works incredibly well to keep them watered, dust and insect free, and is really easy to do. I use cool water (not completely cold) and don‘t turn the water on full blast so that it’s fairly gentle on the plants. Leave it in there for a bit to drain, and then they can go back to their normal spot....See MoreToo much brown in living room?

Comments (9158)Will do! There are waterproof completely covering sofa, but my wish was thick fabric and so many have that grid texture which I didn’t care for. I’ve googled which shows a lot of venders for specific search engines vs just searching every company separately that I could think of. These are velvet which I read are ok. A chenille is what I also read to be pretty tough on scratches and tears but chenille brings up mostly velvet. Not sure how I’ll like the feel/sit of velvet but we’ll see? I guess on the love seat old piece may not make too big of a deal but on the big sofa, OH is on that mostly and his fanny may be more particular 😂 but he does realize we need to keep that piece under cover since we just purchased that for quite a pretty penny!...See MoreZule Reyes
