need exterior advice. what to do with brick, garage color
Comments (9)To me the last pic looks somewhat dark and gloomy. I wouldn't paint the brick...looks nice to me. What is the true roof color...light or medium gray? My choice would be to keep the siding light. Paint the garage door the same color as the siding. That will keep it less of a focal point....See MoreNeed help with plant / decor advice for front entrance
Comments (8)Notice how Doug has removed the narrow planting beds near the door to create a generous entrance porch. I would also widen the walk out to the drive so the two people could walk abreast. Keep the plantings with only a few types of plants, including something bright (either foliage or flowers) flanking the entrance porch where it meets the walkway as Yardvaark’s suggested. That can be in pots or in the ground. You want large enough swaths of plants for most of the plantings so that so they will read well from the road as well as looking nice from the near view. Plantings should be low enough so that they don’t block the sight lines to the door and so folks on the sidewalk don’t feel like they have to try to avoid brushing up against encroaching plants....See MoreNeed advice paint/stools/decor for white kitchen
Comments (13)Lovely kitchen! I agree that the wall color isn’t really helping things. I wanted to show you a photo of my kitchen because I have a lot of bright white in my cabinetry and backsplash, dark counters and pulls, and a blue grey on the walls. My wall color is Benjamin Moore Kentucky Haze. I hope it helps you to see the combination and if that might be something you might like. (My cabinetry is painted chantilly lace, and many of the walls in the rest of my home are decorators white)...See MoreNeed help/advice on exterior paint, windows and garage doors
Comments (0)Front of house - from the street Back of house - this shows all three windows going on ... original gray on left new black french door 3 year old white picture windows Front door - this is on the side of the house and can't be seen from the street I'm a first time home owner in Denver, CO. My house was hit by a hailstorm and I'm having to make big decisions quickly. I really don't want to screw up - a lot of these decision will have to last 10+ years and each decision might influence the others. I'm very excited not to have a pink house much longer! I'm leaning towards a creamy white with black accents and wood-looking garage doors? Here's what's going on: - the roof has already been replaced and I went with a dark charcoal shingle. From the street you can't really see my roof - New Milgard French Doors were installed in the back. The exterior is black and somewhat modern - There are two big picture windows that are newish - they are white. The 2nd photo shows both - I just bought two black barn lights to over the garage doors - https://www.lampsplus.com/products/warehouse-10-inch-high-black-gooseneck-outdoor-wall-light__9c417.html Problems: - the front of the house is all garage, so the garage doors are very important. Right now they are basic white. - there's no front porch and you can't see the front door to paint it a fun color. - there's not much architectural interest to the house. Will white be too bland? - the windows in the front don't have enough space to put shutters on Decisions I need to make: - exterior paint color - garage doors. It will probably be a couple years before I can afford new ones, but I want to paint my house with new ones in mind. - windows - black or white? I love my new black French doors and I was thinking of getting black windows, but they're much more expensive. Much more. I appreciate any and all help and feedback!
