Please help me design a window seat beside a corner fireplace
Comments (28)Hi Annie, Thanks for your thoughts. Your opinion is valued. Just to clarify, the TV would be in a cabinet a bit like the one below, but with wood painted cabinet in a lighter colour. We are planning on a much smaller TV than pictured too. The electricity and other wires for the TV would go through the floor from the basement below (floor plugs). Powering the TV is not really a challenge, and nor is cord control with the right designed cabinet. [Contemporary Living Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2103) by Other Metro Photographers Elad Gonen As per running around the TV, that could be an issue, and maybe it is just plain awkward. My youngest is 8. In general I am striving for a practical design where some seating can see the fireplace and some the TV. We hope to rework a few other versions. Hopefully you will come back and let me know if you like any other other versions better. Is there anything else you dislike about the latest design after my clarification? Any other opinions on the 18:41 version posted today? Thanks for the help! Carol...See More60's Corner Fireplace is Throwing off Room Layout - NEED HELP PLEASE!
Comments (33)Partim had it above...... embellished below You decorate/arrange for MOST of the time....... four chairs will easiiy go around the table. Float and forget the rest. Go get a big pouf cocktail table, or a round glass top to fight all the rectangles in the room. Get an inexpensive 5 x 7 rug, or a great faux hide rug! Snug the table to the wall...... add a great big piece of art or even a mirror !It is what it is. When you can lose the loveseat? Lose it.! And you will lose a " visual wall" : ) You can angle those for conversation and walk right through. Doesn't matter...this is what you have now. And it fits. Just make it work . If it is two of you dining MOST of the time......you don't worry on the rest of the time where you might want six. This is why god invented "buffet style". Bottom line is you are both "over " and under furnished. For the moment. lol...See MoreFurniture Layout in a Living Room with a Corner Fireplace
Comments (5)I often ignore corner fireplaces in my furniture layouts the fireplace can still be used but it is almost always impossible to layout furniture in angles all over the space .You do need to post a to scale floor plan with pictures of the items you want to use in the space it is really irratating to have to go hunting for all the things that are described. Art noveau and framhouse will be a bit of a trick so post pics of the DR table and the lights I think you need to get a better idea of your actual style . Also what you mean when you say farmhouse because things like those lights and gold picture frames are not in my head farmhouse. Just because it is an actual farmhouse really doesnot mean everything inside has to be farmhouse....See Morelayout for corner fireplace in bedroom
Comments (10)I like the layout that you have -- then I'd just put a large piece of art on the remaining wall, no furniture there. No room for a second chair, even without the highboy, and the latter looks pretty valuable for storage. other thoughts: 1. Not sure you have space for a bench without crowding the walkway from the far side of the bed -- the chair and ottoman are already slightly impinging. 2. I think I'd get a real reading lamp for the chair, rather than relying on the small lamp on the dresser. Could be super-minimal, more function than fashion. 3. I think I'd paint that high register to match the walls....See MoreRelated Professionals
