What a Playroom!
Comments (54)Roselvr, I'm scratching my head on this one. IVF these days is quite unlikely to produce high order multiples, meaning 3 or more. Many Reproductive Endocrinologists refuse to put back more than 3, and usually only in a case where they are not of high quality. I recently visited a clinic that only puts back one, and my clinic would only do two. Your friend sounds like many people I know who have never had fertility issues. Perhaps she did IVF for her 4, but I hardly think that it's a trend sweeping the nation - it's expensive, it's invasive, and it is (or often is) highly emotionally charged, even if the outcome is successful. Sorry for the OT rant. Mary Sorry, rereading my post, I guess I got side tracked looking at house pictures and never finished my thoughts or spaced it out.. My neighbor did not do IVF.. She had one right after the other. A playroom like this would have been great for her and the little ones. I was also thinking about someone that had multiples.. I'm glad to hear that places are not putting more then a few back. I watch the shows on TLC, Jon & Kate, the one with the 4 identical 5 year old girls, the lady from PA that had the little boy Sammy then had multiples and the most recent one I saw where they had 5. I could not imagine having that many little kids running around. Anyway.. back to the topic. I love the playroom. While I was at the agents site I saw they also have a recreation room, looks like it is in a walk out basement....See MoreMay I see pictures of your basement playroom/family room?
Comments (7)Thanks for all the pictures and advice. My DH thinks that painting the floor is a good way to go, but I think it needs to be nicer. Sounds like most of you agree that the floor needs to be nice enough to feel comfortable with kids sitting on it to play. I think since we might be not putting much furniture down there to show, that clean painted walls, new light fixtures and carpet would be the easiest to do and have the largest appeal. Our ceiling is finished plaster, and has radiator pipes hanging on it, so it is not a new house with high ceilings and that type of setup. The ceiling and pipes are all sprayed off-white. Thanks for the preliminary help. I am currently working on emptying it out (we're getting a dumpster in 2 weeks). I will post some pictures when I get it emptied out....See MorePlayroom decor help!
Comments (12)Depending on how little your little ones are, you might want to stay away from curtains to avoid climbing/pulling hazards. I agree, move the hand print rug to create a separate, distinct play area in front of the window. I'd love to see a bench there with some throw pillows on it (to coordinate with what you put on the couch) and baskets underneath for blocks and Legos, etc. Or, a playtable and chairs would go nicely there also. Looks like you could also add a narrow bookshelf to the wall alongside the windows with a few puffs, to create a reading corner/nook. Don't get too carried away with finding the perfect pillows...it's a playroom. They will get stained and soiled. Get an assortment of primary colors from rug, (red, yellow, green, etc.) and make sure they are nice, light fluffy ones for some good pillow fights :)...See Morefunctional tv playroom dining design dilemma
Comments (62)Since the dining table + play area will likely be changing over time, I'd put the large piece of art over the sofa, where it has the best light. For the dining + play area, I'd suggest installing a picture rail at ceiling height, then hanging the pictures from it. That will let you move things around as your needs change, without filling your walls with holes. Maybe row of black and white photos, not too small, would look good across that wall. You can buy all sorts of systems and hooks. https://www.decoraid.com/blog/best-picture-rails...See MoreAngi Home Improvement LLC
