Finished remodel pics! Need suggestions for finishing touches.
Comments (5)Thanks, olychick! I had about a week to pick the big stuff so they were all available, so really about three days of actually store time. At least one of our local Lowes guys knows me by site now! Thank goodness after all the initial research I ended up liking all the stuff at Lowes, it would have been a nightmare driving back an forth with tiles and samples. I just had to keep running over a few aisles! Thanks, lynn2006! Our whole house is a sea of tan/beige - walls, carpet, trim - so I wanted to keep the "permanent" items neutral but not plain beige. It's my favorite room in the house now, and the motivation to keep pushing forward with redoing all the rooms. Luckily after the kitchen it will be mostly flooring and paint, so a lot more affordable....See MoreAnother Ugly House! Suggestions on Exterior Remodel? Help!
Comments (5)I think the faux Tudor look needs to go. Maybe just paint out the wood trim boards criss-crossing your stucco if you can't remove them. I would go for a sage green top and either a bright green front door or some other light and bright color. Add a light to the front door area so the door is visible. I can't see your walkway to the front door. I assume you have one. If you don't or if the walkway is thin/skinny, replace with a nice wide walkway at least 42-48 inches wide. Have a nice large (deep) planting bed all along the walkway. Something like this pic below. In fact, have a professional landscaping plan put together by a landscape designer - not the guys that maintain lawns, but someone that is a landscape designer by profession. An amazing amount of curb appeal comes from good landscaping. A good landscape designer also designs hardscape. Landscaping is the finishing touch for your home....See MoreCalifornia house exterior paint suggestions please!
Comments (188)The cosmos will look great and is so easy, and you could add some poppies too, they are easy to sow as well and just like cosmos, if you leave some go to seed, they will come back again and again. It's also fun to buy a wildflower mix appropriate for sun or shade, which ever you have and just be surprised by the riotous mix of whatever shows up and all the butterflies that come to visit. You can get the seed type, or the type that looks like dust bunnies (for real!) that you scatter over your lawn and water in very well, or the kind that looks like a fuzzy shelf-lining that you roll out over your lawn or wherever you want your flowers to come up and water that in well....See MoreSuggestions for updating exterior of small 1918 house
Comments (15)Thanks everyone for your responses. The current color is Behr’s Gladiator Grey. It is a medium tone greenish grey which explains why some monitors read it as green, others grey. I love the idea to paint the door darker and the above mock-ups really show how dramatic that can be. Lori’s point about proportions is spot on. Regarding the planters, I do like the privacy they offer but I agree they need to be painted or swapped out for something that doesn’t conflict with the style of the house. Also—fresh grass is on the way!...See Moredecoenthusiaste
