Light Placement for off-center Cathedral Ceiling

Our master bedroom has a cathedral ceilling with a single ceiling fan fixture in the center. The amount of ambient light in the room when needing to actually get ready in the morning is pathetic. We absolutely need a ceiling fan, but we're concerned that replacing it with a brighter fixture would just make harsher shadows rather than improving the light in the room.

Looking around, it seems that most rooms with this type of ceiling will have some recessed lights a few feet in from the edges of the ceiling on both sides. We would like to do this (though with perhaps surface-mounted lights that can connect to a standard junction box that can be properly sealed), but the peak of the ceiling is off-center and we're not sure where to place the lights on the high side of the room.

Please see the included photos. The ceiling fan is roughly dead center in the ceiling for reference.

Any thoughts? We're stuck.
