One option is to go out to dinner, have a few drinks, not spend so much time staring at the outside of the garage, and let it go. Life is too short. Actually I'd be annoyed too, but probably not enough to actually spend the effort to move it. I like the idea of findng a solution to fix it without too much effort. How about a nice decorative piece of teak where you could cover the existing hole and then mount the light to the board? You could do something similar at the other light. Question: Are there two light over three bays and are the two light symmetric for the three bay width? Is that why they were installed that way originally? Post an overall picture so we can provide an unbiased opinion. Good luck whatever way you descide to go.

I agree with Beth and M.E. Light the island with 1 larger or 3 smaller clear or light toned pendants with a metal finish of your choice to match your theme or hardware, or hood, etc. Center it to the island, so that you can illuminate that work/visiting space. It looks like you can pull off 3, because your island looks larger. I am doing the same thing in my farmhouse kitchen right now. I have a very small island though, so will do only one medium sized pendant, and I have no real focal point in the kitchen, so I am going matte black with it, grey cabinets, white quartz countertops, and antique brass hardware. Do this: Center one light on your sink. Measure the distance from the island edge, to the center of the sink. Now. Take that number and measure in from the opposite side that the sink is closest too. Now you have 2 pendants. If they are not HUGE, if they are on a small scale, it should look just fine. I can post a drawing, but if the ___ is the island and the sink is x.........and the lights are ~ It would be this: ____x____~_____. Of course, the other ~ would be atop the center of the sink, & the center of the depth, of the island --- of course, both pendants are in the center of the width, of the island. If you don't like that looks of that, than you need to hang a single fixture with 2 down lights in the very center of the island? good point. Not a big fan of edison bulbs , and not very familiar with the light they cast. The brass one shows up often on pinterest, but I can't find anything like it in retail. yet ;) The attached photos show a fixture that has adjustable arms for different directions. If we could have an electrician mount it without the extending poles from the ceiling, we'd have the clearance we need. It would be more like semi flush height The bulb covers (?) are smoky glass and can hold 60 Type A - so, dimmable, regular bulbs, led bulbs..whatever works, I'm guessing. Shame that you can't tell the light you'll get without have it hard wired first. Thanks for your reply
