I'm sorry if I misunderstood your earlier post. This one may not directly connect with your posts either, but it is information that bears directly on registered names. There are two different things often referred to as "registered". They are quite different and can lead to confusion if not carefully defined. The registration to which I was referring was registering a rose with the International Cultivar Registration Authority - Rosa, which is the American Rose Society. This registration puts the rose in the historical record for roses internationally. It also makes sure no other rose can be registered using the same name. However, it has no control over sales names. Roses are often registered using their code name, or varietal denomination, and their sales names are just listed as synonyms. Thus Veterans' Honor (aka City of Newcastle Bicentennary, Five Roses Rose, and Lady in Red) is registered as Jacopper. The second registration is acquiring a registered trademark for the name. This is the source of the î symbol following names. This comes from the government and supposedly insures that no one else can sell a different rose using the registered trademark name. However, it does not keep the company that trademarked the name from using it for more than one rose. Poulsen, Kordes and others spend a fair amount of time and money registering names with the European trademark authority, and they feel they need to use them often to get the benefit from it. Thus they both do sell more than one rose using the same trademarked name at the same time. I am not aware of any cases where they used more than one trademarked name for the same rose, although I suppose it is possible. Adding confusion to the situation, some companies also trademark the collection names. Thus you could have a rose with a trademarked name being sold in a collection that also has a trademarked name. They could sell the same rose with the trademarked name in more than one collection with a trademarked collection name, or they could sell two roses using the same trademarked name - one in each collection. But no one else can use any of these trademarked names. Finally, the rules say if you register a rose with the ICRA-R, you cannot trademark that registered name. Or if you trademark a name with the government, you cannot use that name to register the rose with the ICRA-R. Life would certainly be easier for all of us if each hybridizer would only use each name once, and no one would try to use a name someone else already used. However, that isn't the world we live in.

I had Renata in a pot for a couple of years. It didn't make it through last years polar winter for me though. You shouldn't have any such problems in your zone. It was a very pretty mini that bloomed frequently and with good sized flowers with lots of petals. I live in black spot central so it did spot for me but I don't think you have the same disease pressures that I have so it may do much better for you. You said you think it is too cold? How cold are we talking about? Roses are fine outside in any temperatures above freezing and do not suffer permanent damage until temps go below about 28 degrees. So if you won't get that low it will be best outside. Roses are not house plants and you stand as much chance of losing it inside as you do outside but for other reasons. Roses need SUN! Even in a sunny window they do not get adequate light. For good blooming they need about 8 hours of direct sunlight. And they like high humidities. You don't keep your home anywhere near humid enough to keep it happy. Roses are always happiest outside! Follow Ken's advice on acclimating it to the outside. It's very good advice. As I said earlier, roses need a lot of sun to grow and bloom well so you need to get it into full sun as soon as possible. Don't worry about rain. Even in a sheltered spot if a rose is prone to black spot it will spot, rain or not. Besides, roses love rain! They like at least an inch of water per week and those humidities I was talking about before. In your hot summer the key thing you'll need to do is keep it watered! Otherwise a shot of fertilizer once in a while and it should give you many years of beautiful blooms! One tip, DO NOT try to separate the canes in the store pot. When you go to transplant it into that gallon size pot you may find that there are 3 or 4 rooted cuttings in the pot. That's how they get these to look so full and pretty for the florist trade. A lot of people try and separate the cuttings when they repot but I don't recommend it. I'm pretty experienced at roses and cuttings and such and I've found that I almost always lose them all when I try to separate them. It isn't worth it if you want to keep this rose alive. It's much better to pot it on as one plant with as little disturbance to the root ball as possible and wait for it to grow up and then take cuttings of your own to root if you want to make more plants.

I was gifted a small rose bush labeled the same rosier miniature roses. They were pinkish with white spots. The plant was in poor shape and only had three blooms. I’ve since repotted and nursed it to health. I’m new to gardening and read most roses bloom in 6-8 weeks intervals. The bottom picture was it when I had it a week and the top ones are now. I’ve had it since Valentine’s Day and haven’t had anymore blooms. Does it look healthy? Does anyone know this type of rose? The new pot is about 4 times the size of the first pot.
