Two staircase foyer - lighting help needed!
Hi! I am looking for an appropriate light fixture for this double staircase foyer and am stuck.
The first image is the "before" pic. the next image is photoshopped with white paneling.
There is now only one light fixture in the center, the carpet is removed, the steps and banister will be a dark stain and the risers and paneling will be white. the walls will be an off-white/grey and the floor is a white with grey marble.
The home is traditional but is being updated to be more transitional-traditional. What kind of light would you suggest here? Thank you!

Comments (11)Thank you everyone, looks like #1. is the favorite. :) Annie, it is 14" height by 10" wide. There were a couple other lights I liked but the lighting designer was concerned they were too tall with the 9' ceilings, she seemed more happy with this choice. Lol. I will take your advice and hang some bags to see the scale at the house tomorrow. That's a good idea. :) I wasn't to sure if choice #1 was too funky looking, like something that would remind people of some of the crazy lights people hung in the 70's, lol. But even when I showed hubby he seemed to like it. Usually we picked lighting more modern and in chrome or brushed steel so this is a big change. Comments (1)Have you looked at Hubbardton Forge's large chandeliers? They have beautiful lighting in the craftsman/transitional style. They are pricey but not the style number or name and you can often find sales at lampsplus.com and other online lighting retailers. My dining room chandelier is from VF. I having a hard time finding a fitting chandelier for this foyer. there are grey/white marble floors, and the stairs will be painted/stained white and dark brown (see photo shop pic with white paneling for general look). walls will be very light, almost white. the house is traditional but it's being updated as transitional/traditional... Agreed, there is only electrical for one chandelier now since we felt it was a better fit than the two previously there.
i tend to be more on the traditional side, but simple.
bathrooms and kitchen fixtures will be chrome... kitchen is attached chrome cage. family room will be oil rubbed bronze 48" chandelier, nook will be wood and bronze mix
furniture is not selected yet. will be neutrals and some dark pieces

6 years agoGorgeous staircase! I agree with above and say a single chandelier with a center table. I've attached a photo of a Kelly Wearstler chandelier that I have used recently for a similar situation and came out stunning. Maybe a dark stain center table to tie in the dark accents?

6 years agoKat, these are all Currey& Co. if the first on is the Chancellor it comes in two sizes. Just in case you are seeing these differently I’ll just post all of these.
