Thanks for the compliments. I'm pleased with the Moen fixtures. Moen has a good warranty, they stand behind their products, and parts are easily obtained if needed. The handles turn smoothly and the water pressure is perfect. The shower curtain is the old one, which can be seen partially in a couple of the before pictures. It is pretty and looks even prettier now. I might change it though. I have a luxurious looking white one I might use, see www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=14710922. The original vanity was 59" with two sinks. We were going to get a 60" with two sinks, and replace the pony wall with a narrower one. I saw a neighbor's similar bathroom that was remodeled earlier this year. When I saw how spacious it looked the with 48" one sink and no pony wall, I decided to do the same. I also considered how DH and I use the bathroom, which is never at the same time. Also removed were the bulkheads above the vanity/toilet and tub. The smaller vanity with one sink does have more counter space than the 59"/60" with two. Seems like there's more room for better organized storage. The one piece vanity top and sink is easier to clean too. There's also a place for a wastebasket on the left side of the vanity, instead of in front like before.

Well I got a new update... As I mentioned previously the bathroom vanities were removed and are back in the shop to correct the edge.. This was before I even had any time to speak with the wife and think about negotiating.. Today I receive a phone call from the project manager.. He tells me that they can enlarge the sink and give us the 24 or the 28 inch sink that has the same width.. The fabricator looked over the specs of the new sinks and both will work.. HOWEVER, with that said I have two options.. Option #1 is to have the fabricator come to the site and do the cut with the granite installed.. Project manager says that the only drawback is that they will have to buff the edge by hand and the finish will not be "as good" as we have now since they do the buffing with a machine at the shop.. Option #2 is to have them take the slab out of the house and bring it back to the shop.. They will do the cut there and use machine to buff the edge.. The exception with option #2 is that if the granite breaks it will not be on the fabricator and I would be responsible.. At this point I flip out on the builder and ask how I am supposed to get a finished product that is less quality then what I would have gotten because they failed to go over the sink size.. The project manager claims again that he did show us the exact sink.. Then goes on to say that they have had to enlarge sinks in the past and no one has ever noticed the difference and that even though its done by hand it still comes out great.. He says that if we go with option 2 and something happens it will cost roughly 2k-3k to replace and said that it would fall on me regardless of the whole issue that they never went over or confirmed sink size.. With that said I am thinking that its not worth the risk of 2-3k to have them take it out.. The builder is obviously taking a strong stance as I assumed they would since granite is an expensive item and not something they can make up for.. So if something goes wrong and it did fall on them its money out of their pocket and not something they can just have their hourly employees fix.. I am thinking of just letting them cut the granite at site and leave it at that.. At this point we have upgraded so many things that our contingency fund is almost depleted and the risk of 2-3k is too high for us.. Has anyone seen site buffed granite? Is it something that will be noticeable compared to what we have seen now?

Well, I finally found this post. I didn't get any notifications that there were responses. Out of 17 different tilers, everyone has a different solution. Some I have discarded because even I know that the contractor doesn't know what he is doing. Others didn't specify what materials they will use and how their process. (even after I told them I wanted all details on the quote.) As for the rest, some wanted to use Kerdi boards, Durock only (HA!), and Durock and membrane. One said he would be willing to use Wedi foam boards. "Willing to use"? Maybe Wedi is the least likely to be screwed up if they have never used it???? So, the hall bathroom has been gutted since April 2020. The only contractor I fully trust is unavailable for another year, at least. Maybe more, since he usually gives me a date and that date is usually several months off his estimated starting date. So, I bought 1/2" Wedi panels, but I may need 3/4" panels according to Wedi's instructions. One guy said 1/2" is fine with 16" on center studs. He was going by the pictures I showed him from Wedi instructions. The written words said something different, unless I have not comprehended it correctly. Quite possible. Currently, there are only studs. Maximum stud distance = 16" o.c. which equals 407mm. "Minimum required thickness of Wedi should be 20 mm (0.787") for 400 - 600 mm." BUT.... The picture below shows "stud frame for 450 mm (17.72") washers and screws for BA 12.5"mm" (1/2") Wedi panels. So, the picture above of the 450 mm shows BA 12.5 mm Wedi board, not 3/4" Wedi board. That is why one contractor said 1/2" boards are fine. He said the Wedi panels can go directly on the studs which is what my research found. However, I worry about the strength of it. If we put Durock on the studs, that would mean that the back tub/shower wall thickness would be 3/4" - 1" with the Durock and the Wedi. Then, the remainder of that wall would need to match that thickness ...another 4.25 ft to the corner. I will email Wedi on Monday to clarify. Should we attach the Wedi directly to the studs or should we put Durock behind it for support? What has to be done to the Durock if it goes behind the Wedi panels? Does that decision matter whether we use small wall tiles or 12" x 24" tiles? Thanks.

Not going to lie Rip the darn floor, it was a mistake. Not that vanity either. Put the same tile as shower walls on the bathroom floor. AND simplify the vanity and darker please....... Less bulky hardware for that shower door. You are all over the place /in look and feel. : ) Fix it before you go further. Floor is a re do. You don't like it now, and you won't when you finish. Not the worst mistake in your life, just a floor re do. With an adjustment to the door and vanity selection to make the entire room one cohesive look....and feel. Truth ? "Paint and towels" won't save you from remorse.: ) sorry. You're not wrong in your assessment of the oopsie.
