I think finding an area rug with teal in the pattern would give you the amount of teal you are craving. It will also have other colors should your taste change in the future.

Your space is nice but needs personality and finishing touches.

Your art over the sofa is way too high. Needs to be hung people height. Too much brown in the room. Are you open to getting a new, larger rug? Maybe with a bit of teal. Teal throw pillows, a coffee table some sparkle or texture with a teal tray will look nice.

Have you considered moving your TV over to the picture wall? It looks like your chair swivels so the person in that space can watch the TV when it is on.

Only having one source of light above makes the space seem officey. You need some lamps. Curtain panels will also help make the space look more finished.

Teal items can be hard to find and the color varies from place to place. Are there other colors that you like?

There are a few things that stand out here, the first being that there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate through the space. Flip that seating and you can use a few more of your doors.

You can use some additional pieces, such as a very large square coffee table - this is a good spot to add storage. What are your specific needs in that regard? A storage unit can be added on the wall you just freed up, if needed.

The next order of business may easily start with the rug. Look for one that has lower pile and is 2' or so larger. If there is pattern involved, you can use that as a basis for accents and draperies.

Take some time with wall art, but when you find what you love hang it low enough to be enjoyed, please. :)

This room has almost no color in it, so I would also suggest a larger rug with some colors you like in it and then use pillows and wall art to repeat those colors. White or cream drapes will give the room softness without adding colors or patterns to the room. njmomma's inspiration picture is a very good example of a room with a modern vibe and clean lines which still manages to be warm and colorful.

Lamps, floor lamps, some other lighting source than overhead!

The gallery wall on the opposite side should take up about 2/3 of the wall space with the center at about 54-56 inches from the floor. Ditto on the large art work.

Add a colorful abstract rug big enough that the furniture front legs all fit on the rug.

A round ottoman/cocktail table for drinks, feet, TV stuff. Maybe custom to find a pattern that blends with the rest of the room.

End tables on either end of sofa.

Window treatments in a solid; maybe black out shades or woven roman shades.

Add a solid teal recliner and a printed easy chair and ottoman.

Lots of pretty pillows!

A tree that is tall to fill the room.

The room is large the sofa is large and you need a lot of contrast items to fill the room and balance the very large sofa which fits the room nicely.....move forward and take your checkbook.

A designer did this room and that is a possibility too....well worth it as a room should look great for ten years or so before styles change.

I would not put artwork over the windows.

The brown chair looks isolated and small by itself in comparison to the visual weight of the sectional.

If you consider the last photo in the Susan Davis post, that chair is larger and has a pattern fabric and accompanying ottoman with it that balances better, visually, its sectional. The arrangement of the pieces and the artwork on the walls also create more visual balance in that room.

Too much brown-beige. Here is my mocking up, I tried to make it elegant.

I would get some lamps so that you can turn off the overhead lighting. You will then get a better feel for colors. Lamps are VERY. Important. Could those window shades be removed? Either way, curtains would warm up the space.
