Please avoid FLS at all costs! (no pun intended). I know the stuff looks nice on the showroom floor and the prices seem good. It's just not worth it. We bought 17 pieces of furniture from them and there was something wrong with every single piece! First, please understand that we have purchased furniture before and are very reasonable people. Things happen. Sh*t happens. We understand that. Sometime furniture gets scratched or dinged during delivery. That's life. You tell the seller and they send someone to repair it. That's the way the world works. We don't have unrealistic expectations and never make unreasonable demands. I won't go in to details, but will tell some of the highlights: I think it took about a year to receive. I could be remembering incorrectly. Maybe it was only 6 months. But in any case, it was supposed to be delivered in a month. We bought 3 matching leather cubes/ottomans for the end of our bed. They were all different colors and different HEIGHTS. One was about 2" taller than another. On the leather headboard, the seams were wavy and not sewn straight. For the bedroom set they sent us USED furniture. Not only was it used, every piece had scratches, or damage of some kind. The triple dresser had a long, deep scratch right on top, in the center. The chest had worn corners on all the drawers and it looked like it had been abused for years. Also, a leg was broken off. All the furniture was wrapped and the delivery guys were great and very careful. It was clear that this was old damage created over an extended period of time. The dining room chairs were a disaster. The fabric is puckered on all of them, and the fabric color was not the same as on the show room floor. In the show room it is definately beige. Just beige. What was delivered is beige with green running through it. Truthfully, it looks fine and we don't really mind the color. It's just annoying that it's not what it's supposed to be. In any case, we told them we would not except the bedroom furniture and their response was "too bad, you signed a contract stating that we could fix any damage ourselves. No returns accepted." We pointed out that the contract applied to new furniture only, not used furniture and demanded replacements. We also pointed out their well touted :"white glove service" is what convinced us to buy from them, but clealry no one had even looked at the furniture or it never would have made it on the truck. They didn't care and said they wouldn't "refund" our money. (Of course the joke was on them because they didn't realize we hadn't paid yet since we had taken advantage of their in house 1 year interest free financing. HA HA!!) Anyway, we politely went back and forth with customer service for months. Trying to resolve it. We kept getting form letters from the person assigned to our case. Eventually we realized she actually had no authority to do anything. It was simply her job to "listen" and deny our claim each time. We threatened to sue. They still didn't care. They basically ignored us until we hired a lawyer who sent them a letter. Then all of a sudden they miraculously agreed to take the furniture back. At this point we just decided to be done with them and didn't even want he furniture replaced. As for wonderful BOYLES: We were a little scared of Highpoint by now, but we still decided to give Boyles a try. So we bought 3 pieces of furniture from Boyles - A Henredon dresser and 2 nightstands. We went to boyles and bought nicer furniture on sale for the same price. It was a discontinued, and highly discounted, Henredon Collection and Boyles had 20 sets in stock. They made a slight mistake but bowled us over when they went to unnecessary extremes to fix a tiny problem. Basically, the dresser for the set was used, although only slightly. There were holes drilled in the back for the first owner's TV, and the ring tray was unwrapped. The Henredon documents were not included, etc. But after the experience with FLS, we really didn't care and were happy, no - actually we were thrilled, to have structurally sound furniture that had not been abused. The only problem was that there were a couple of light scratches on the dresser, and there was some wax residue that they hadn't quite gotten off when they polished it. Also, the top had a more matte finish than the nightstands and it's supposed to have an ultra high gloss finish. We found out later that the manufacturer makes it in the two finishes, but neither us nor Boyles realized that. So why is boyles so incredible? (1) We only found out about the difference in finishes because Boyles empoyees researched the furniture collections and VOLUNTEERED the information. It wasn't so different that we were even sure there was a problem - we just casually mentioned it. (2) We just asked them to send someone to polish the 2 or 3 very small, very light, scratches on the top of the dresser. It would have been easy and probably inexpensive. They insisted on replacing the whole piece of furniture. (3) We mentioned that as long as they were replacing the Mahogany dresser, could they try to send us one the "reddist" one they had in stock because the dresser was actually browner and the nightstands were redder. It wasn't a big difference and nothing we would get hung up about. The furniture was beautiful regardless. But we figured as long as they were sending a new dresser it would be no trouble at all. Since they weren't sure the stain color of a new dresser would match the night tables they insisted on sending new pieces of everything! We said "no, no, that would be silly, don't do that!" (truthfully, after the FLS experience we were scared to let them pick up what we deemed "good" furniture and take it out of our house. And we were tired of living out of boxes.) Boyles assured us that they wanted to replace the whole set and make sure the finish matched on all the pieces(color and shine). They also said that they would pickup at the same time they delivered so that we could be sure the new pieces were alright. I'm sure Boyles did more right stuff, but I see I've already rambled quite a bit. Basically: FLS = BAD!! BOYLES = EXCELLENT!!

Lucky you, being able to reuse your cabinets. Ours were in terrible shape. Your choices sound great. I can understand your excitement. I don't really have any advice, as we've only just started our DIY, but I just wanted to wish you good luck with the process.

Yes, he is licensed and insured and I met with him today to discuss all of these concerns. According to the contractor, the shower has been properly waterproofed. A moisture barrier was installed behind the wonderboard and all joints and corners were filled with polymer-modified bonding mortar over the joints and corners. That being said, I took a trip to the tile store to explore my options. The lady suggested using the basketweave on the bathroom floor, but my husband doesn't like that idea. Option 2 would be to get rid of the basketweave all together and pick out a tile for the floor that has a matching 2x2 that could be used on the shower floor as well. Unfortunately, she didn't have many options aside from a porcelain Carrara looking tile, but the gray was all wrong up against my subway. It didn't go at all. Do you guys think porcelain Carrara looking tile would work up against the real Carrara marble threshold? Or is there another style that would work better? I just had a baby (and I have 2 toddlers) so it's very difficult bouncing around from tile store to tile store. I'm hoping to get an idea of what I'm looking for and then go.
