Backsplash tile decision

We are remodeling the kitchen in our 1961 rancher. The counter tops will be concrete overlay in a medium grey that resembles soapstone and cabinets will remain white. All new appliances in stainless. The bar behind the cooktop will also be in the same grey stone. We are trying to decide on the type of tile for the backsplash. The splash behind the cooktop is 6 inches high. The areas that are currently the white Corian behind the sink will all be tile. The idea is to do some form of subway in a light green (you can see some samples in the first photo). I was looking at either a different shape or a different pattern such as herringbone. Does the fairly small space bode well for 3x6 tile or would 2x4 be better? 2x4 just seems sort of busy. If we went with herringbone for the larger wall, I thought maybe the 6 inch run could stay straight or a single row set in a 45 degree angle. Too weird? Any ideas are welcome.
