Help me replace my bathroom

I had a 10 year old bathroom. It is rectangular and standing shower style with a glass sliding door. Its beige ceramic tile wall started to get brown and look dirty. Especially the lines around the tiles look awful, and I am tired to clean it every two weeks. My wife and I then decided to replace the ceramic wall with a plain white bath tub and wall, so that it will look better and cleaner. Please advise me.

What are your goals for the closet? That might shake some posters out of the trees. Personally, I'd do double doors, maybe even split half way up, so you have upper and lower double doors. OK, while I'm dreaming, bottom half would be a laundry bin. Top half storage. The way the tile is cut is problematic. AO may be able to get you a similar color in octagon and dot. Otherwise, what about buying white octagon and dot, then painting with color-matched epoxy paint before you grout? Alternatively, a clever threshold (clever because It would have to project out a bit into the room bc of that unfortunate tile cut) could bridge the space into the closet. You could get the threshold made out of anything that looks simpatico to your overall bath; marble is common, or black granite, travertine, painted or stained wood (easier to shape and cut into place!). If you did that, no need to match tile for the closet floor. In that case I'd get floor paint and paint the closet floor a color that gets along with your tile. I have a closet in my bath and the depth makes it difficult to get full use of the space in it. We use a lot of bins and trays, so we can pull them out and get what we want, or access less frequently used items stored behind them. That tile, by the way, is a beautiful, distinctive color. It may be harder to work with than many of the white tile bathrooms you see here, but I hope you keep it. It looks great! (And best of all, it doesn't look like a million other bathrooms.)

I have turquoise fixtures in my house. I painted one wall a light tan, sand color, vanity is white, got some aqua rugs and a shower curtain that had different shades of turquoise, browns and creams. It looks great, looks spa like. Currently blue and chocolates (browns) are very in. I think you should stick with the blues and maybe go for blues, whites and tan for a nice look. I would also try to figure out if you could remove the glass door just to let sunlight in. I would then find 2 shower curtains or regular curtains and place them on either side of the tub. That way the tub gets curtains and you get a view of the sun. From the pics, I liked the blue shades the most, the darker blue looked nice too. The green looks like a fun bathroom. I think you can do a lot to your bath without replacing the fixtures just play with the color and the accessories.

Hi nicole, I used Lowe's software here, it just seems to do virtual colors better. 99% of the time I jot the paint colors in the photo name and this time I didn't do it. (They typically are not accurate to real life, best to find a color that works in virtual then find a real life swatch in that family and test it ;) I have PPG software and somewhere I have a PPG Fan deck (probably buried in my car somewhere, I've been working on a rental) and can verify for sure PPG software is not close to real life. This is pretty dark but I did my (small) upstairs bath in PPG Heliotrope four years ago. It's a smoky mid-level purple. Probably much darker than you want? OH! THANK YOU! I am so loving ALL your ideas and suggestions, and believe me, I am seriously considering each and every one of them! OK... so I cut out some sheets of paper the sizes of the pictures we have been considering. The 4 pieces of paper on the long wall represent the four 13.5" Sturbridge ("4 Seasons") prints. I think they fill the wall nicely! The 2 pieces of paper above the toilet represent the two 8" x 10" Warren Kible prints (the cat and the pig). (Boo seems to approve!!!) THEN, I'll change out the toilet seat (probably a plain white one... or maybe black???), and maybe replace the magazine holder with something like this... ... and call it *DONE*!!! So, what do you guys think?! And remember, you can be BRUTALLY honest!!! Really! ;o)

If you still have the tile wall, you can reseal the grout after cleaning it so you dont have to keep cleaning it

"Please advise me." Without more information, we can't give advice, We don't know what you want advice about.

Do you want to know:

- who to hire to do this work for you?

- how to do this work yourself ? (Then you need to say if this is on concrete, above basement, or above a lower floor.)

- what tub and enclosure to get? (Then we need to know the size of the space and your budget, plus how long you want to stay in your house, what kind of neighborhood it is so to know whether a fiberglass surround is right or if you need a solid surface to look more upscale.)

You can learn a lot by searching the Bathroom Forum using the search box at the top of the page. Read what others have been doing, what everyone had to say about different products, and then maybe you will have better questions to ask. Yes, it takes time, but the info out there is good. No one here is likely to re-write everything for you when it is out there for you to read.
