Comments (63)Awesome finds for everyone. Tracy, I would sort of be inclined to leave the two together. I kind of actually like that. But wish the tops were growing more outward from each other to give a better balance. It just reminds me of trees in the forest that grow side by side. Like a deep connection twins often have with each other. Either way it's a tough call. Wonder if the blooms would compliment each other. Kirk...See MoreCitrus for Canada! Comments (53)Wow interesting! Here is my list with some minor differences with yours: # 1 shiranui # 2 gold nugget: a favorite on this forum! # 3 kishu: Brian, I bought a bag of tiny small mandarins at my asian grocery (the size is about a looney or smaller). It wasn’t label as kishu so I am not sure but they were very, very sweet. They really taste like orange life saver. I read about this description before but never thought much about that until I taste it. The description ws very accurate. # 4 xie shan: winner at the citrus expo held in alabama. Must be really good to win the favor of all those enthusiastic citrus lovers. # 5 page: never taste it but seems a classic to have. Everyone was raving anout this variety in another forum some years. Sugar Belle, Pixie, Daisy and Tango are all great varieties but I never taste them and can’t find lot of information on them....See MoreShasta Gold, Sumo, Mandarins, oh my!
Comments (29)Last week I found Shasta gold and sumos at Shoprite. Today I saw ruby tangos and golden nuggets in Walmart. The GNs didn’t look great, hard and pale. The ruby tangos looked beautiful, but they were expensive and I didn’t want to buy a whole box. I’m really impressed by how much variety there in mass market mandarains. So many more choices beyond cuties and halos. Still not as good as growing your own......See MoreThe Christmas Candle
Comments (27)I'm so glad I finally opened this thread (I'd bypassed it thinking it was a sappy holiday theme). Loved the video (and the next two on rotation after it, as well). Is it just me, or do some of your friends/family actually like those candles? My daughters are always trying to get me to buy them smelly candles. At least my oldest wants handcrafted natural scented ones, but my youngest will pull them off the shelf at Walmart begging me to buy one for her. They would be thrilled to get the peach candle in a gift exchange. I don't get it (but I may be biased since, as you may remember, we had to restore our entire home top to bottom after a house fire caused by a gifted Christmas candle). Funniest gift story for us was when we arrived at my grandnephews 4th birthday party and I bent down to wish him a happy birthday my eye fell on the unusual necklace he was wearing. I asked about it and reached out to examine it further, his mother (my niece) spoke up quickly before I actually touched it (bless her soul), to explain that it was a dried turtle's foot on a genuine leather thong that his grandma had made special for him. We looked at each other our eyes wide and then had to turn away or we'd have both lost it. My sister (Jack's grandma) is what you could call a genuine character. To be fair, I think the kid loved it....See Moresunshine (zone 6a, Ontario,Canada)
