Need Help with Master Bedroom Bathroom/Bedroom Layout - 1970s house
Comments (5)I like my first idea best as far as use of space. I know people say not to put toilets on an outside wall. We had one in our last house in Iowa, but we had 2X6 construction. I don't know how high your window is, but I'm guessing the toilet would fit under there. The shower would be 5 feet long or shorter if you want a wider space to get to the toilet. (kind of tight the way I have drawn). You could do a 5 and half foot long shower and do an angled door at the left end to allow room between the shower and toilet. The vanity would be about 7 feet long, unless you do a 60 inch vanity with a linen cabinet at the door. I would reverse entry door swing if you do that.. The second top right could work and you would still have a small closet. The bottom left plan would require waterproofing your front window. Hopefully someone will give you other ideas. The bottom right plan is bigger, but no closet. Each square equals 1 foot....See MoreNeed opinions on bedroom layout.
Comments (7)13'X17' is a great size. I would go with a queen bed. Plenty of room to grow into and will last thru college at which time it will need to be replaced anyway. When they have sleepovers, who sleeps? They also tend to sleep in more public areas where there IS a TV....family room, basement, etc. and they use sleeping bags. And that way, I could always keep an eye on things! No TV in the bed room. Horribly interferes with sleeping. Besides, when you send them to their room, what kind of punishment is that if they have a TV in there?? I think a desk in the bedroom is a great idea. Homework does not have to be done in the center of the family. It helps children learn they are not the center of the family and helps them complete their homework independently. You can always check it when they are done. With a room that size, you can have a bookcase for books, trophies, etc....See MoreNeed help decorating master bedroom
Comments (18)Agree on the furniture placement that you have. Thanks for the photos. So, if you keep the bed under the window, the best looks seem to be a full ceiling-to-floor drapery behind the bed. Right now, there are several different horizontal lines (blinds, headboard and swag) competing with each other. The long drapery changes all that so there is only one horizontal line, and that would be the headboard. In your room, I'd consider long drapes behind the bed, and eliminate the swag and the blinds. The two rooms below used a light sheer to get daylight into the room, and a heavy drapery for light control at night. The third room used a heavy grommet drapery and no sheers. All these room's have larger bedside lamps....See MoreUnique Master Bedroom Layout (furniture arrangement ideas needed)
Comments (3)oh, ok. perfect. if there is room there, it would work. you'll have plenty of room for a rug, and a nice bench at the foot of the bed. maybe a few chairs, potted plants over by the window. The tall wall is also a perfect spot for some type of accenting this would be cute in the inset area: I'd do something like this. the blacks/whites/charcoal/leather tones, walnut, would all look nice w/the flooring. love the rug/bench too Inside the large niche, think about doing a built in piece with shelving,, or find a console to span that length. All sorts of ideas for the inset! If you did a built in dresser there, you wouldn't need another piece. tv goes on a swivel mount I'd really make a point of doing somethign special w/the inset spot. you could find a vintage credenza and use that, if there is room on the side, do some cubbies or something like this...See Morerfharmon
