How to decorate sunroom?
We are deciding whether to remove the wall between the sunroom and den (TV is on the wall that we'd like to remove). Den is very, very dark, and sunroom is very bright! Not sure how to decorate sunroom - would prefer to have one large space. Is it worth it in the long run to open up the wall? Need advice regarding how to decorate/stage the sunroom if we keep divided into two separate rooms. We have 3 kids and a big, black dog, so traditional "sunroom furniture" is a no-go. Any ideas, post away. Thanks!

Comments (30)I go with the sunroom, too, and here's why. You can build a shed for cheap at some point, and until then you'll probably keep one car inthe driveway, and all the bikes and basketballs in the garage along with the yard and snow tools. The sunroom will make a great playroom while the little ones are little. I've seen that sunroom with nothing in it but a low-pile play rug and Lego. Or balls. Or plastic hockey sticks. Or those big Little Tykes (slide, trikes, trains) Or Hot Wheels. Or dollhouses. Or art projects (easy-to-clean tile floor). Usually just one or two of those. But a great playspace, near you but not, outdoors but not. After they are done with those types of toys, it can be dining space and added living space. You don't need the shed until Boy #1 gets a car. Oops, didn't mean to scare ya lol! Upstairs, I wonder if you can steal some space from the game room to make a reach-in closet for Bedroom 2, and use its walk-in closet to expand the bathroom. 5 boys will need more counterspace, more drawer storage, and (I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm usually a 1-sink gal) 2 sinks. Comments (4)We need a little more info but first IMO you need some sort of heat and light blocking so solar shades would be a nice choice and a floor plan with as much detail as possible like the measurements of all the spaces and doorways for sure . Comments (1)We recently moved into a new home with a beautiful sunroom. Problem is, with a few pieces I'd like to keep for comfort, I can't figure out how to set up the room, or if I should get a couch, and where to put it. The table in the center with the glass lamp looks beautiful from the family room, and in the window at night, and I have a cozy papasan chair behind the Christmas tree right now. 6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoDoes it have heat, I see a space heater I think. It looks like the wall with the tv was maybe an exterior wall so it is probably structural so you should budget for that.
I have a much smaller version of your two rooms and instead of opening it up I added doors to sometimes close it off but they are usually open. I decorated the two spaces to coordinate and put a different shape but same color sofa infront of the wall af Windows looking into my tv room but with kids mess often in the sun room I like to close it off sometimes. It also gives me a place to read while my kids watch annoying Disney shows in the living room.
The doors look like pocket doors but are only 1920 doors hung on barn door hardware. The doors also let me close the cats out of the Christmas tree room when I am not watching them
I did not have the budget to open up for it is an exterior wall.

I like busier design though! I ended up using vine curtains, I think I found them at target, to mimic my outside hedges.
