Ceanothus question

Mel D

I bought a Ceanothus "Centennial" for a great price, with the idea that I would plant it in a container and let it cascade over the side. Now I'm second-guessing myself--I've read that plants in a container should be hardy for a zone cooler to account for the roots being more exposed. Will my Ceanothus give up the ghost during our first cold snap next year? I'm officially zone 8, but the owners of a popular garden a few minutes from me, but a bit closer to the mountains, consider their garden zone 7. Am I overthinking the fate of a $4 plant? :)
