kitchenaid vs. bosch dishwasher
Comments (13)At the end of October 2009, I bought a Stainless Steel KitchenAid KUDE70 dishwasher and compared to my prior 20 year old Whirlpool almond dishwasher that was very noisy and did not clean the dishes well, I love my new dishwasher. Of course, I have nothing else to really compare it with since I never had a chance to try the Bosch with the top cutlery rack that I liked a lot also. My new KitchenAid KUDE70 is very quiet, cleans my dishes very well, I love the top cutlery rack so much that I took out the cutlery basket which gives me more room for when I have wide items since that area is wide. When the dishwasher has completed the cycle, I love how I do not have to separate the silverware before putting the forks, knives and spoons away since I make sure I load them by type of silverware. I like how I can move the racks up and down depending on what I am washing. The Bosch would have matched my LG French Door Refrigerator better and GE Cafe Gas Range better due to the style of the handle and the color and grain of the stainless steel but I chose the KitchenAid Kude70 since I was afraid of the smells I was reading about coming from the Bosch dishwasher when the door was opened. I think that occurs if it is not installed property but I was afraid since I do not do dishes daily. I also thought the KitchenAid dishwasher had more room inside in case I have bigger items to wash and never had a dry heat before and wanted it so I could put the dishes away as soon as the wash was done. I also loved the utility plastic basket that I use for knives that is on the front corner that is in addition to the silverware basket. The second time I used the dishwasher I melted a lid but I have learned to put plastic lids in the plastic pouch in the front (another feature that I loved about this dishwasher) or attach the lids to the clips on the top rack. I love the dry heat now that I mastered how to put the plastic in the dishwasher. I make sure the plastic containers go under the second tier level on the top rack so they will not move around. Most of my plastic is either dry or almost dry. I sometimes just have some water in the plastic that I loaded a different way but since everything else is dry, it does not take long to dry on the chrome dryer rack I have....See MoreBosch vs KitchenAid dishwasher?
Comments (26)We have had a KA DW for 8 years now. Model KUDSQ1KKSS0 (Superba model, not top of the line, but up there). We were never super happy with it. Early on it didn't clean well and I noticed that several of the holes in the sprayer arm were clogged with food particles. Turned out the grinder motor had died. Extended warranty covered it. A while back the pump also died. I was able to replace that myself at least. The top shelf also seems flimsy on the slides. It often would lean forward and roll out by itself when the door was open. It always wobbled on its slides. We also have problems with glasses coming out with grit quite often. And the four corners we don't load, since we always have issues there. Heavy wash cycle usually does a better job, and I try to use the sanitize cycle at least once a week. Been using the Finish tabs for the last four or five years. I generally use the energy saving dry cycle, which doesn't leave the dishes that dry, but I just let them air dry and it doesn't bother me. I'm surprised that drying is a big issue for many people. Last time when it stopped working, maybe eighteen months ago, had a repairman out to replace the circuit board. He said he does a lot of repairs on kitchenaid dishwashers. It is always the grinder motor, the pump, and then the door springs (which he replaced while he was here). I was suprised to hear that--even though I had experienced issues with mine, I had mostly read good experiences from others. (But I do have a 2002 model). A couple of months ago, the plastic parts on the top rack broke. These are the pieces that hold the rack up and adjust it from the lower height to the upper height. So I'm in the market for a new DW--I'm holding my upper rack together with tie wraps for now. I'm looking at the Bosch or Miele for now. I guess 8 1/2 years is pretty good for this dishwasher. New ones will be more efficient. Just want to get one that works well....See Moredishwasher dilemma - Kitchenaid vs Bosch
Comments (51)Everone will have a preference. We got the KUDE70 early this year and it has been great. We replaced an integrated model that had a cabinet panel. It was flush with the surrounding cabinets. The new KA sticks out about the depth of the door. But, it looks great. It is still recessed under the granite countertop overhang and the sides of the door are SS so it looks very nice and modern. And this allows you to see the soft blue glow of the status indicators. Which comes in handy because this thing is so quiet you can not always tell if it is running. It took about three weeks to get the right combination of our water and which detergent to use, but now we have no problems. New washers have different cycles than older ones, so your old methods might not work anymore. We are very pleased with it....See MoreNeed dishwasher advice - Miele, Bosch or Kitchenaid??
Comments (13)jrb451, over time calcium can build up on your pump and make it noisier. The detergents made over the last five years do not do a good job in keeping calcium and lime deposits away. I would recommend that you do a citric acid clean out of your dishwasher. (you may have to do this twice if you've never done it before). This will clean out the inner working and quiet most dishwashers. You can buy Dishwasher magic or most dishwasher cleaners at your local supermarket....See Morecpartist
