Dishwasher: Bosch, Kitchen-Aid, or Kenmore version of these
Comments (13)I have had the issue with the damaged (thankfully returned to normal) cabinetry. My appliance dealer took back the KA after a month +/- of use based on this and let me pick anything I wanted to replace it. I picked a upper model Bosch, with the cutlery rack, and haven't regretted it one bit. This machine is quieter than the KA, I can fit more since the tines are closer together (I took my plates to the store with me before purchase to be sure they fit), and most important, it doesn't vent in to my cabinetry. I have linked my original thread on this issue, and some people say they have never had any moisture there, and these people also have their DW pulled out from the cabinetry, where I wanted a flush fit, which is what I thought you would get with a fully-integrated machine. I'm very happy with the Bosch. I was quite upset at first because I loved the KA with the exception of the vent issue, but we have all the rest of our KA appliances and we're happy with them. My best advice would be to buy from a reputable dealer who will stand by their product, and if needed, replace if you're not satisfied. Here is a prime example of why I switched. I placed this piece of paper in between the DW vent and my cabinet directly beside it on the left. This is what I got after a cycle. I think the fact that the repair technician from my appliance store who came out and said that our machine was functioning the way its supposed to and yes, indeed that IS a vent, is telling. KA customer service was not so helpful. Here is a link that might be useful: Vent issues......See MoreDishwasher Selection Bosch/ KitchenAid/ Jenn Air/ Maytag
Comments (3)I have a Kitchenaid about 2 years and it does a really good job and very quietly. Holds a lot including odd shaped & sized things, washes the dirtiest loads clean and best of all it dries things too. The racks are very sturdy, adjust & move easily. The machine has a soft food disposer, so you don't have to worry about the odd pea, bits of rice, kernals of corn, melon seed or other food waste. They are trapped, pulverized and then flushed away. So there is no filter to hand rinse or odors in the machine. The instructions recommend Cascade or Electrasol detergents and keeping the rinse aid dispenser topped off. Following this advice, everything has worked well. C...See MoreBosch vs KitchenAid vs ? wall oven
Comments (3)Regarding the Bosch maximum temperature, the way they present the specs are misleading. You need to check the owner's manual for the correct info. Max temp on a Bosch is 550F. Max temp using Sabbath Mode on a Bosch is what's limited to 450F (the Sabbath Mode limit is what's mentioned in the quick info sheet, which is why it's confusing). Note Thermador's new line of ovens (same parent company as Bosch) is limited to 525F on any bake modes. 550F is only available for broil and rotisserie. The Thermador ovens that are being replaced went to 550F. I don't know why they changed, other than perhaps the new swipe control "can't handle the heat"....See MoreNew Bosch Vs. Comments (22)We have a Kitchenaid that the previous owners had installed, and I don't care for it. The pump has been been replaced once, and it sounds like it's dying again. Control panel is touchy and locks up frequently (I have to unplug it to reset it). We always have to double check the top rack with a wiggle and gentle extra push or else the door leaks. I've had a Whirlpool and a GE in past homes, neither I'd consider great brands, and the Kitchenaid has been the biggest disappointment....See Morekaismom
