OT Question about cutting some plants
Comments (12)Hi- My huge white flowering moonflower vine (Ipomoea) is blooming for the first time tonight this summer! I wanted to get photos, but remembered my hubby took the camera to C.A.(darn!) Anyway, it is the most heavenly scented honey- sweet-like perfume I've ever smelled! It was so incredible, I wanted to shout to the neighbors to come & sniff it! My Daturas also smell like peanut butter- that's so weird! Concerning Mandevilla, my neighbor says she overwintered hers in her cold cellar for years, but she got sick of dragging it in & out every winter & spring. Mandevilla's another thing I'm trying this year. Does anyone know what a "purple people eater" is? Some type of Datura? is it hardy in zone 7? How well do double purple daturas grow? Might get them on a trade soon...Thanks for sharing all the info... Kasha77...See MoreSome good news and some bad
Comments (12)Ida, I am so disapointed that I will not be able to order from you again. I am also pleased that God sent you my way so that we could become aquainted. He makes no mistakes. I am happy for you and Damond that you will be able to spend time enjoying your life together and that you will have more free time. I will keep you in my prayers that our kind and generous God will give you the peace and grace that you so richly deserve. I will look for you on the LA also. God be with you and Damond on this new adventure!!....Ellie...See MorePics! Some good news and some bad news.
Comments (14)Thanks for the compliments on the annual pot! I worked for a private gardener one summer many years ago and my job was to do the annual pots and take care of them all summer. They ordered truck loads of gorgeous and rare annuals for their customers. I WISH I had access to something more interesting, but I make due (sp?) with what the local nurseries sell.... geraniums, million bells, licorice, potato vines, petunias, etc... I have 2 of these pots in my back done the same way and every year all I do is change the color of the million bells and geranium. It always comes out nice, but I think I'm getting bored with the same design every year. Oops, sorry to go on... thanks!...See MoreLittle O/T Petroleum costs decreasing could be good news?
Comments (3)It will take quite a while for lowered oil prices to affect things like plastics, since there is already a supply of goods manufactured at the higher rates. I work in the plastics industry, and we are still getting price increases on raw materials. Many of the resins we use (including PVC) went up another $.10 a pound this month. There may be a drop-off in things that are fuel-related, like earth moving and gravel/sand/concrete, erc., but diesel is going down much more slowly than gasoline. I would think the biggest effect would be supply-and-demand, which is what is affecting lumber and drywall. Builders and suppliers will have to lower prices to sell houses, or go out of business. We plan to build in a couple years; I wish I had a place to store building materials, because inflation (which is coming) will drive up costs by then....See MoreIslay Corbel
