Mine are mostly small things -- like using a glass compote to hold cotton balls in the bathroom -- or a cut glass tumbler to hold q-tips. A hinged CD holder (similar to the tissue box above but a double version) used as a spot to store extra TP. I have a dresser that is a TV stand for our exercise room and the drawers have my gift wrap rolls and ribbons. A home office armoire that was going to be my craft and gift wrap station became a china cabinet when my dad moved and I suddenly acquired another set of china and crystal and I wasn't ready to make decisions on getting rid of anything. I have an old radio cabinet that I cleaned up and planned to put a new shelf and door in the top, but the stained glass panel hasn't been made. I'm thinking about painting it and redirecting it's new life for another room now. Another one I haven't done buy we've talked about a couple of times is to put a pull out bed in a window seat to add a guest bed in our gameroom. I think the inflating mattresses are going to keep that one from happening -- take less room and are probably cheaper and more comfortable now that we no longer have a sofa with the pullout mechanism to repurpose. If a new thread is started, we should try to link this one at the top so these ideas and photos aren't lost -- st least as long as we can.

I have sued a contractor. Actually it was a swimming pool contractor and it was very difficult. He had a lot of money and brought a total of 18 lawyers to a scheduled mediation. Unfortunately we were jerked around for almost 2 years before his insurance companies (yes 2 different insurance companies) settled for much less than it cost to repair and some portions of our problem can never be resolved. A little info on what he did wrong -- 1. Installed a pool that was 8 feet longer than contracted ( I know sounds great but really messed up the plan for the entire yard, the difference in a 20 x 40 pool and a 20 x 48 pool is alot of money to heat, fill, and maintain and takes it out of standard sized into commercial sizes for everything). 2. Totally destroyed all existing vegetation in our yard - even trees and plants located many feet from the pool. We had to have a tree service remove 3 large old oaks he killed because of his carelessness. Had the pool been the proper size and his construction crews not placed debris and spilled concrete around some areas they would have lived. 3. Pool had a leak under the pavement from day 1 - he claimed it was ground water. 4. Stamped, stained BOMANITE concrete surround was not done to industry standard, no control joints, sawcuts or rebar. Not consistent in thickness, stamping not complete, color totally inconsistent. We did find out in court discovery that neither the contractor or his employees had ever had any training from Bomanite, Bomanite was supposed to be the best in the industry and only use trained professionals with licensed materials etc. -- Total lie. In short we spent 2 years and had to defend ourselves in a countersuit because we were holding back the 10% completion payment (he wouldn't complete the work) It cost us dearly in frustration and cash. We did recoup probably 20% but it will eventually cost us much more ( 3x what we recovered ). Part of our problem was that each of the insurance companies fought among themselves to see who owed who what. I think the only one happy in the end was the attorney. BTW, our contract guaranteed no leaks or mechanical problems for one year, he would have them repaired. We offered him the option to correct all these problems but he wouldn't, he said it would cost him too much money! My advice, get an attorney to write a harsh letter, but if he doesn't have insurance or lots of cash, you may have a hard time collecting money and no amount of money can compensate for the frustration.

IRL it's darker, deeper, more red-based.) I got a lot of pleasure of putting some colorful boxes (found in TJ Maxx, left from gift, etc) where I keep lots of stuff(mementos, letters, postcards-I never throw these away, etc) on some of the shelves. favorite scarves, bags-i arranged them in a way I can see them I love colors and patterns(I love black and white and greige and taupe and cream too..one doesn't negate the other) so that obviously creates more liveliness. Bought a funny vintage hat with a rose on some estate sale and put it on the top shelf. I keep some art there too but it's not really displayed yet, it's stored, waiting for its moment..one can see a bit of it though. I don't have a picture(I never thought my closet is worthy enough) and can't take one since we're that strange family with a broken camera and no i phones lol..need to buy a camera the idea is basically the same-take a color you love that will work with your bedroom(or wherever your closet is) and have fun arranging it with your stuff. Some boxes I have there are bright blue and bright pink with golden polka dots lol. one box has a ribbon and embroidery. another pictures a happy frog. I like being silly somewhere (often on a street lol)..closet is a nice place to do whatever makes you happy In the previous home I had my most favorite top turned in a way I could see it all the time. I also arranged some very bold necklace in the same way

Hi all! My husband and I are considering this plan to build and have a few questions Has anyone turned the loft into a 4th bedroom? If so, how did you relocate the staircase to the bonus? did yoh add access to the bathroom to make it another jack/jill? We are in Fayetteville NC and would love to see the house in person if anyone is relatively close? or just drive by to see the outside I am a licensed Realtor and my husband will be our builder Thank you!
