Consumer level "genetic testing" - not as advertised

A recent report describes how conflicting and contradictory results from the same human samples highlight the misrepresentations by the so-called DNA testing companies. When asked, all admitted that the veracity of their "findings" was something less than what they promote in marketing and sales materials.

An NYU professor said "The commercial DNA tests for ancestry are more toys than scientific tools, and the industry knows it.".

“There’s a degree of ‘wink-wink, nudge-nudge’ that this doesn’t really work as well as advertised. A lot of this stuff is really for entertainment only.”
