Random act of kindness today!
Comments (12)Restores your faith in humanity, doesn't it? I've had things like that happen to me and I've also dealt with workmen who are looking to get every extra nickel. The guy who reno'd my bathroom was constantly looking for ways to add extras. It got to be a battle of the wits. He may have gotten extra money out of me then, but he lost in the long run since I do not recommend him to others nor would I hire him again, even though his work was very good. Be sure to mention their good deed to others....See MoreAn act of kindness!
Comments (19)One thing all the northerners are forgetting (I was a northerner and spent over 7 years in Atlanta). There isn't the equipment to "salt the roads", "plow the streets", etc. Geez Louise - I 75 north of I 285 in Marietta is what - 8 lanes wide one way! Do you realize how many salt trucks it would take??!! North Georgia is very hilly too. I do fault Atlanta and the surrounding areas on one thing - they had warning. Those schools should have been closed earlier (10:30 am) if not closed completely! Al Roker was pissed this morning when he said the governor and mayor said this caught them off guard. They had plenty of warning. I can't imagine having a child of mine stranded in school overnight. Back at my school district in upstate New York, kids were stranded at school once in the early 80's. Now it's a "joke" to be Ichabod Craned - or closed on a forecast of bad weather. Better that than being unprepared or stranded or worse. Here is a link that might be useful: Ichabod Craned...See MoreWitnessed a random act of kindness, today :o)
Comments (8)One of our cashiers went to McDonalds for lunch yesterday. A street person came up to her and asked if she had spare change because he was hungry. She said, "I won't give you money, but I will buy you a hamburger." He thanked her, and she got off her seat and went to get him something to eat. When she returned to her table with the hamburger, he looked at her and said, "I'm sorry, I was so hungry!" He ate her meal! She still handed him the hamburger and came back to work. Hungry. She didn't have more money on her for food. Nice, huh?...See MorePurposeful Acts of Kindness
Comments (51)If I get really good customer service, I make a point to go to the manager right away and tell them that the employee was wonderful. Not only does it make the employee happy, it makes the manager happy that they're being called up front for GOOD news for a change. I also try to always be nice to cashiers-even if they're crabby. I give them a smile and say thank you. If they seem to be having a bad day I try to joke with them or tell them I really appreciate that they're helping me, it must be tough to deal with people all day long. That usually elicits a smile and I hope it brightened their day. I also buy $5 Starbucks gift cards this time of the year and hand them out to crossing guards. Those poor folks are always standing out there on the street corners in all kinds of weather making sure the pedestrians are safe (not just kids, adults too!)....See Moreglenda_al
