Mmhmm - and there are dozens & dozens of clones in the hands of other GW mems. It was a tall plant with about a 1" stem. I cut it off flush about 2" above the soil with a new utility knife blade, waited for the wound to stop weeping, then painted it with with water-proof wood glue (the wound only - careful not to slop onto the stem). This keeps the cambium from dying back & promotes heavy back-budding from the wound site. After the back-budding, I selected the 6-7 buds that were most evenly spaced & rubbed off the others. Do this to a well-rooted & robust plant in the middle of summer & by the next summer you should have something like the one in the pic. Lol - I don't get too excited about growing a plant unless I can figure out a way to manipulate it or make it somehow unique. Let me know if you want a start when our weather changes. Al

Sorry, I didn't catch the part about spraying them. I've dabbed 'em off w/ pure alcohol, never sprayed it. I too would not do that & agree w/ ltecato. I hadn't thought abt K beharensis being fuzzy, I see his point & tend to agree. What abt something like Neem Oil or Bayer Shrub & ____, neither of which I've used but have heard of other folks using well. Or, a systemic, I've used Marathon w/ great success on indoor plants (my Hoyas), never had the mealies come back. (I don't know what phormium is, nwever saw the name before.) I asked abt the Aeonium tabulaeforme 'cause in some cases its rosette lies horizontal, that is perpendicular to the stem & don't think in that case it would drain too well from any application of anything. As to IDing the Aeonium, maybe check Desert-tropicals. com. Never heard this biz of plant tags being too expensive. offer to pay for it if you like these folks plants, that's one of the lamest stories I've ever heard in easily 10 yrs. of growing succulents. At least you've tried to get them to give you the names, i't'd been nice if they could be adult abt it & give you REAL names. Sorry to rant, but I'm amazed that they have great plants & such a juvenile stance abt tags & proper botanical names. Then again, I guess that's preferable to great names & crappy plants!

Greg, I have one plant labeled Black Prince from a Cactus nursery and I hope they know their plants (maybe), and one I'm not sure of but looks different. But I assume they both need the same care. When I get my camera out I'll take a side-by-side photo. I live 5 miles inland from the ocean, just at the edge where, if there is fog, the ocean fog ends, or barely covers in the mornings and burns off later, or the fog just doesn't quite get to me by a quarter of a mile or so. So I call it zone 11. The roses just aren't happy about it until summer when it is sunny. This echeveria is in the lath house so it gets some sun. I'm just trying not to kill it.

1)Bayer's Tree and Shrub Insect Control. Mix 1 oz to one gal of water and drench the soil. May sure you keep your plants out of the sun for 24-48hrs. Either move it into shade or throw a couple of sheets of cheese cloth over it. Yes, it is expensive stuff but you will only need to do this once per year so it is not as expensive as it first appears. 2)The rosette that is blooming will die when it is finished flowering. Cut it off at that time, now if you don't like its look. The remaining rosettes will continue to grow. You may wish to remove all the heads and set them in fast draining soil. Your established plant will grow new heads and the heads will set roots and become new plants. **Remember: these are winter growing plants** If you choose to behead them, do so in early spring or fall when temps are cooler. They go dormant in the heat of summer and will not root. Hope this helps. Jo
