Maybe what I say is miss info, Mater of Fact just rename me Miss. Info. I put cactus in my north window since that is what I have. They don't grow in the winter so I think I am safe. TRUE , my winter is not as long as yours and they are right back outside very quickly. I have heard of some storing cactus in a dark garage during their dormant period.My epi is back away from any window on a high shelf , but they get light falling some of the day from a tall north east clearstory. They do not grow in the winter either. I am very careful about watering them in the dark. Now that is the kiss of death.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much again for your help and guidance. I thought I should pop in here for a quick update (I just hate when people post a question and never update their resolution!). It took almost 2 years but I'm finally at a good place with the bedroom decor. We ended up putting the bed up against the window because of symmetry and it also opened up a big space at the foot of the bed where we can play with our dog. We also ended up with a queen bed instead of a king. We don't mind the bed in front of the window at all. The bed has a wire headframe and barely blocks the light. We just need to hang some pictures or paintings and I think I can call the bedroom done! Thank you again for all of your wonderful suggestions and advice!

I see no reason why you can't put it under a window, but make sure you have a headboard so nobody hits their head on the sill. We use two twin XL for our main bed. It makes it the size of a regular king bed, but allows us to adjust the beds separate (ours raises feet/head and we don't want the same angles). I would have issues with space in a twin too, just because of the length, I wouldn't be able to stretch out. However unless a really big guy a twin should be fine width wise.

With the hardware mounted on either side, no view to the interior from a neighbor and a bed in need of a headboard, leaving it as is will save $$$ for a good looking pair of bedside tables, properly proportioned lamps and a fabulous headboard, as well as a rug for under the bed. Your ceiling fan looks quite contemporary, so that's a direction you can take with the style of the room.
