Mind taking a look at the plan from our architect?
Comments (47)Hey guys! A couple of people had asked for updates once we got our landscaping done. And we also got our shutters! Even though I knew it would, it still amazes me HOW different it looks with those two changes. In a few weeks, as the dianthus and azalea start to bloom, it really should look lovely. Still no pool, but the front definitely is getting closer :)...See MoreArchitect screwed up big time and won't give us plans. Now what?
Comments (56)Bluffing is not against the law but threats of that nature can be construed as blackmail by the person being threatened. Where did you get the idea that making people mad was an effective dispute resolution strategy? The strongest leverage the OP had was the ability to terminate the contract. But that bridge has already been burned for no benefit without consulting a lawyer who would have warned that it would anger the architect and close the door to a timely negotiated settlement. Adding blackmail-like threats is only going to guarantee there will be no short term settlement and the OP doesn't have time to use any other method of dispute resolution. I don't see how your online comments elsewhere about responding to online complaints about your work could possibly be of use to the architect in question. This seems a very odd forum in that contractors can grandstand and post self-serving spam promoting their businesses....See MoreAny feedback on this family home plan? has anyone built one similar?
Comments (54)Rachel please do yourself a favor and ignore DE. She really is someone who is here just to stir the pot. Plus she acts like she knows all about design and architecture but anything she has learned is just from one or two books. In fact each time she opens her mouth she more than proves her lack of knowledge and understanding of architecture and design. Better off listening to our excellent architects, Virgil, Mark, architectrunnerguy, RES as well as some of our contractors, Worthy, Millworkman, Jeffrey Grenz to name a few. In fact my house is as good as it is because I listened to Mark, architectrunnerguy and RES. Additionally are some very talented designers who regularly post....See MoreHas anyone built this plan?

I agree with cpartist - it's really not good. It's super wide, but then sticks the garage out front. WHY? Ultimately - it looks like a labyrinth of rooms, laid out poorly, with no effort or forethought to maneuvering throughout the house. And every time I look at it, it gets worse. The use of double doors into a game room? I windowless "e-space" with barn doors? A pantry window you'll see from the front porch? A pocket door into the master bathroom? Useless "walk in" closets? traffic patterns through the kitchen / in front of the stove? 2 doors to the powder room? and one is a pocket door? I am usually not this harsh - but this is BAD.
